Free wireless?

I understand that dvc members on points get free wired Internet, but I had heard they were doing some testing at resorts like contemporary which made free wireless available. I ask because I would much rather pack an iPad than lug a laptop.

Have any recent visitors found free wi fi?

Many take a router from home to run iPads, laptops, iPhones, etc. I don't believe any of the DVC resorts offer free wi-fi.

VGC has free wired & wireless. The problem I had when I stayed there in May was the wireless signal was very weak. Had to use the wired.

All DVC Resorts except for those at WDW have free WiFi.

Yeah, and I thing that stinks! But now that I have my travel router, I'm good. . . unless DVC takes away the free wired internet

I think wired is better. As I said, we couldn't get a signal at VGC and when we stayed at DLH 2 weeks ago, it was very slow at times. It would be pretty frustrating if all they had was wireless and the signal was slow or weak. Plus wired is more secure.

Both of these are reasons why I did not mind spending money on my own router -- particularly the security issue.

A few years ago, the front desk CM at AKL told me I could get free wireless outside Simba's Cubhouse. At the time, I ignored it because I didn't even own a laptop (yes, I'm really late with technology). But I'm going again, with my laptop, in 21 days, and this time I'll be sure to check.

I like the Apple AirPort Express. It's a compact single piece unit. Regular price is $99 and refurbished units are $69.

I use an EnGenius travel router. Google product search claims to find sellers selling them for around $50.
