Do counter service restaurants at DLR give free cups of water like at WDW? Thanks.
With all the rain, maybe just hold my mouth open towards the sky!

If you want free, cold, filtered water to refill bottles, head to the baby center or first aid. They will let you refill your bottles, gladly!

In the last year, when I've asked for water, they've had very very small cups pre-poured and sitting around. Ice melting, not so cold, etc. It's been a change from what I've experienced in the past.

As for the first aid places, I hope they have a spigot or something in the back, b/c the water I've had from their fountains has been warm. Not what I've expected!

Well, you can probably have all the free water you want this week!! Just bring a bucket.

We noticed the "can only give small cups" of ice and water for the first time on our last trip between XMAS & New Years. It was quite annoying, but when they'd give the tiny cup, I'd say, OK then I'll take 6. Sure seems like it would have been easier to give the 1-2 large cups that I originally asked for! :rolleyes1 We use it to refill our wide-top water bottles that we carry during the day. I think this will warrant a visit to guest relations if they have the same policy when we go back in March. Maybe if enough people complain, they'll go back to the normal way of handing out medium or large cups of ice and/or water!

Unless a significant policy change has been enacted recently, there isn't and has never been any policy restricting the size of water cups that can be given to Guests.

Within Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, it's generally been considered one of our hallmarks of service with a legacy dating back to the opening of Disneyland Park when free water was handed out due to a plumber's strike which resulted in the water fountains not being completed.

It just sounds like y'all got Cast Members who just didn't want to put effort into pouring water, which is just a shame. If it happens again, just ask directly for a Regular or Large cup of water, if they flat out refuse (which I really doubt would happen; for heaven's sake, it's just tap water), ask for a Manager, as that's just flat out against Service Guidelines and is something that the CM would need to be coached about to ensure a better experience for future Guests.

I did ask for a large cup and was specifically told at Taste Pilots Grill that they were only allowed to give out small cups. When I told the girl I thought that wasn't right because I'd always gotten large cups before, but that I realized she was only doing what she'd been told to do, and that I'd visit guest relations with my complaint, she eventually did manage to give me the large cups I requested. :confused3 Another time at Rancho del Zocalo when I retrieved my large cups of ice water myself and then made it a point to go through an empty register line with them to point out that I wasn't stealing anything, the CM at the register told me they had special small cups for water and I couldn't take the others because of their free refill drink policy. So, I had to pour my 2 large cups into about 6 small cups, and then I had no way to carry them because I'd left the rest of my group sitting at Fantasmic. So, I just dumped most of them. I then went to the Golden Horseshow and WAS able to get 2 large cups of ice water from there with no issue at all. So, it was somewhat sporadic, but I do feel that I was hassled over stinkin' cups of water! :headache: Probably not what Disney intended with their misguided "small cup of water" policy... :rolleyes1

As I said, I really will take my comment to Guest Services (in a nice way) if I encounter more hassle on our future trips.

That is a new one on me! I'm sorry you had that problem. :( I ate there in December and they said there was a water spigot outside. Judging from my photo, I guess they had non-themed cups for water waiting outside?

That said, yes, restaurants that serve water have been giving those tiny cups since June. A couple CMs have given me two by default. Lucky for me that I don't like ice much so it doesn't matter to me if the water's been sitting for a while, but it definitely feels like a decline in service.

There are a few places with spigots, such as Tomorrowland Terrace, where you can put water into your own cup/bottle too, if you'd like. I find Tomorrowland Terrace's to be easily accessible (as long as the restaurant isn't under rehab or whatever, anyway).

I asked for water once and they said "yes, for the price of a soda." So I said no thank you and have since just refilled my bottles. :(

When we were there at Thanksgiving, they would only give us the small water cups when I asked for a cup of ice water.

Is that legal in California? It is my understanding that charging for water is basically not legal in Arizona. (You can charge for the cup, but not for water.)

I've never heard of that; that's crazy! (And bordering on dangerous if it was summer-time.)
