Hey there! My friend is gifting me a week of timeshare (not DVC) and I have the choice of a few resorts in Orlando Hoping to get feedback on which is the nicest. We will spend a fair amount of time poolside so that is a big priority for us. Choices are
Marriott Grand Vista
Marriott Harbor Lake
Mystic Dunes
Star Island
Westgate Town Center

Any experiences, good or bad, that would help make the decision would be welcomed.

Thanks!

Stayed with Westgate a few times, they are fine (Depending on the size of the unit, you could have a lot of room). I guess that would be one thing I looked into was the size of each and amenities of the resorts. Avoid the sales pitches !

Stayed at the Marriott Harbour Lake a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. I have also stayed at Star Island, which was also very nice but that was closer to 10 years ago so I have no idea if anything has changed.

I vote for Harbour Lake. It has 2 pools and a splash area for kids. There were activities going on all day long. They have a room where you can rent movies and board games really cheap. The rooms were really nice and updated.

I would recommend looking at TripAdvisor and compare there. The people here are WONDERFUL with all of their information but I can almost guarantee you that no one here has stayed at all resorts so it's hard to for them to really compare.

Give TripAdvisor a look - honest, mostly reliable feedback.

Thanks all. Looked at reviews, booked marriotts grand vista. Looks great! Now if I could just find a decent car rental rate!

try carrentalsavers.com if you don't have a Costco membership.

We stayed at Star Island 04/10-04/17 and absolutely loved it. I haven't stayed at the others, but would definitely go back to Star Island.

We traded into Marriott Grande Vista one year.
It was very nice. Easy to get to the various parks.
Hard to get a lounger at the pool though, as people put stuff on them before leaving for wherever in the morning for when they came back. Very annoying.

Grande Vista...best out of all of these listed and very easy commute to the parks. Plenty to do for both kids and adults and is very pretty right on the golf course.

Look on the Transportation Board. There is always a thread going for the best deals whichever month you are planning to travel. (eg - My 2016 Car Rentals, etc.)
