free tickets to Kennedy Space Center

I'm in NC and didn't even hear back from my congressman. Oh well, I think I'll take the kids to the beach the day before my cruise as I don't want to spend $160 for half a day at KSC.

Thanks for the info...I got the free tickets years ago, but I thought that program had been cancelled, since at the time admission to the exhibits was free and tours was all you had to pay for. I haven't been since the prices went up, and I used to literally go all the time, because I lived down the road. DH has never been there because I haven't been willing to pay for tickets.

I tried to email my congressman regarding getting the free tickets and they came back and told me they submitted our names to try to get tickets to a launch. When I emailed back about the admission tickets to the museum and visitor's center, they had no idea what I was talking about. Did anyone else have this problem? I live in Florida so I thought for sure that they would know about this!

I just heard from our tickets. We are only going to get 4 tickets for our 2 families together. We had asked for 7, but we were told today that due to the high demand of those asking for tickets for April that we could only get four. Hey, four tickets are better than none- so we will split the tickets 2 and 2. Now just got to find a way to find 3 discounted tickets.

I just heard back from my Congressman (I'm in PA). He said they could help me get tickets to a launch, but not free admission tickets. Oh well - guess we'll have to start collecting OJ points!

:banana::banana::banana: YAY...just heard back from congress here in Tampa area and we got them for May29th(Holiday weekend)! 2A1C. Hey thats 100+ more dollars for Disney!! Thank you OP for the great tip:woohoo::woohoo:

Just received an email from our Congressman's office that we have four tickets (2 adults and 2 children) for our visit in August.

The fax that NASA sent to our Congressman, reads, in part:

"...Tickets may be picked up at the KSC Group Sales Office (located at KSC's Visitor Center) any time after 9:00am on the day of the tour. The Center opens at 9:00 am and the bus tours begin running at 9:45am and run every 15 minutes. Tour passes will be held at the Visitor Center and should be picked up as soon as possible, but no later than 2:00pm to ensure that the constituents do not miss the tour. If constituents are unable to attend on scheduled day please contact me to cancel this request. These tickets include:

- Admission to the Main Complex, including all exhibits and shows
- Buss tour which includes the LC-39 Observation Gantry, International Space Station Center and the Apollo Saturn V Center
- Opportunity to see both IMAX Movies
- Visit to the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame (AHOF) which includes the museum of personal artifacts and interactive activity floor simulators
- Tickets valid for two days of admission (must be used within 7 days of first use)"

We just received word from our congressman in TX that we have free tickets as well for June 2010. I calcualted for 2 adults & 2 children a value of $216. I'm happy! I requested these about 30 days ago.

Ok, just emailed my congresswoman, lets hope we get them! Thanks everyone for posting you success stories and the the OP for letting us know about it.

Just came across this thread. Thanks for the info. Don't have time this upcoming cruise, but will definitely keep this in mind for the next time we're in FL.

Likewise, we won't have time to take advantage of it this trip, but next time we'll definitely keep it in mind. (Illini_Fan - are you in Illinois? If so, whose district are you in?)

Of course, it will be nice if there's still a manned spaceflight program....

Hi, I am also from Alabama, near Ft. Panye. we are heading to Disney Wonder Cruise for Spring Break: week of April 11th, 2010 wanted to get more info on the free tickets from the congressman. thanks Deb

My friend hit up her local Congressmen and they said that Space Kennedy doesn't do it any more. We could get tickets for a shuttle launch. Know who we won't be voting for.

We received our confirmed fax today. Congressman Aderholt (Alabama) came through for us. We received 4 adult tickets (figured it would be cheaper to purchase the kids tickets). I had asked for 7 tickets total between 2 families, but we were told that we could only get 4 which was fine with us. We are going on April 18th at the end of our 3 day Wonder Cruise. Does anyone know if we need to call ahead and schedule the bus tour time? Or can we do this on the day of arrival.

I don't know for sure, but from looking at the Space Center website, it seems like the buses run every 15 minutes, so I would assume that reservations are not needed.

That was my congressman's office initial reply as well. I responded back with some of the details that other people had posted on this thread and after about 3 weeks, we have 4 free tickets.

You might want to politely ask them to contact their NASA liaison as you have information that shows that NASA does provide the passes even when a launch is not planned.

Giving it a try for our September trip, just emailed Congressman Whittman of Virginia, I will update when I receive a replypixiedust:

I just emailed our rep in Northern KY (included all the details from this board to hopefully save time!). Will let you know what I hear. I was hoping to go for spring break, but sure that won't happen. We are going to Disney in September also, so perhaps that will work out!

I went to a teacher workshop at NASA in January and found out certified teachers can get in for free also. Just another option for any teachers out there. I would call to check but I think you need a copy of your certification, your ID and pay stub.

Also, if you're a teacher and you are in the area at a time of a workshop, you can attend those also! Some of the workshops are amazing! The last one I went to we got a tour and got to go inside the Vehicle Assembly Building and really close to the launch pad!
