Refillable mugs have always been included in the quick service plan and the deluxe plan. Begininng in 2012, you will also get free mugs with the regular dining plan.

One downside to resort mugs is that if you refill them on your way to a park, you get to carry them all day. In the evening you find yourself having to go back and forth to the room to fill it.

Psst, WDW... How about beverage machines with the ice machines in the buildings?

i am really glad to see that they are including mugs in all of the plans. we pay for new ones every year. in the mornings we fill them up with coffee or tea to drink with breakfast. then we fill them up with ice water to bring to the parks, avoiding paying for bottled water. the mugs kept the water cold for hours so we love using them.

at lunchtime (whether counter service or sit down) if there was pop or juice left that we didnt drink with our meal, we would pour that into our mugs. we also went to the counter service places and got free icewater to pour in our mugs.

then back from the parks we would fill them again before going to the pool and severral times during the evening. most of the time we filled them with ice water as we drink alot of water, but unfortunately we also drank a good amount of iced tea and lemonade. it sure was cheaper than spending three something for each drink. the mugs saved us a ton. its great now that they will be included.

We usually don't do the dining plan as it does not match the way we eat. We rarely eat desert, do not want to be tied to reservations etc. We also stopped getting the mug. At a resort with a refrigerator we find it less expensive to order breakfast foods and enough bottled water, sodas and Capri Suns from Garden Grocer to last the week. We use the coffee maker in the room for morning coffee.
