Free QSDP Trip Report -Eats in the Summer Heat 2012 Updated 7/30

It was one of my favorites, too. I still like the desserts, but unless the meal choices change, we won't be going back. And I really liked it there b/c there is a lot of seating and air conditioning.

One thing I forgot to say about SS- they have fountain drinks but the bottled drinks are really limited to only a few choices- milk, powerade, OJ and water. Maybe there was iced tea, too. Anyway, I didn't want any of them so I took a juice box from the kids section. The cashier was so nice and insisted I get 2 juice boxes b/c they are small. That was a good surprise.

Still reading you report. Thanks for the updates. We moved to CSR so we are no longer on the QSDP. No one in my family could choose which Ts meal to cut so instead of paying for 2 or 3 OP it just made sense for us to upgrade to a moderate.

Day 7- MK

Breakfast-AOA- 8 am
We decide to try AOA for breakfast. It was a quick walk over b/c our room was near the bridge. Again, there were no crowds and check out was really fast. I wonder if any other POP guests thought to eat over here?

DD15 got some oatmeal and the very sweet CM put raspberries on it in the shape of Mickey's body. DD loved it and it was one snack credit. DD11's breakfast was a waffle with fruit and bacon. This wasn't any different than POP's.

DH and I split the steak and egg burger. It was delicious! It was a steakburger on I think a wheat bun with an egg, cheese and bacon. Normally I would not like a burger for breakfast but this was very good and I hungry from not having a good meal the night before at SS. It also came with hash browns. We picked up some drinks too. They had smoothies, but we were told they were considered a snack credit, not a drink. Oh well, we thought we'd ask b/c at CBR in 2009 they were a drink. Anyway, it was a great breakfast and there was plenty for everyone. The burger was huge. We left and used AOA bus to MK for our last day! :worried:

Lunch -Captain Cooks at the POLY-1 PM
I had the idea to eat at the Poly for lunch and ride the monorail. Well, when we got over to the station they said the monorail was closed and directed us to a boat. It was really hot and the boat had no air conditioning, it was out in the open. It seemed like it took a long time to get to the poly b/c we had to stop at the GF.

CC was much smaller than I had imagined and there were only a few tables. We did like the kiosk ordering, though. We split a few meals. The two turkey club sandwiches with multigrain bread were fresh and cold. Just what we need ed after being on that hot boat! It came with sides so we had fries and a side of a veg. DD11 chose a brownie that was just ok and dd15 got a dole whip which she loved. We also had a chicken sandwich with pineapple on it. It looked good, but I didn't like it that much. I think we also had some chips and a piece of chocolate cake. It just seemed too hot to eat much that day. If I had known the monorail was broken I would not have left the park to eat there. Luckily, we were able to ride it on the way back, although we were really scared we would be stuck somewhere like some of the stories I have heard recently on the Dis.

Dinner- Pecos Bill-7:15 PM

The lines and wait time were really long here. I had a taco salad which I have always wanted to try. I would not get it again b/c the meat didn't have much flavor and I didn't like that I had to get my own shredded lettuce and tomatoes from the fixings bar. I had to cut the tomatoes, too. The dressing they had out was italian. I usually put french or thousand island dressing on my taco salad. I don't know why they had italian. The girls ordered a burger and a bbq pork sandwich and had corn with it. It was ok but dd15 said she thought the burger was better last time. DH had to order the most expensive meal there- it was steak, corn bread, corn, and I think some other side. It was not on the big menu, only a small photo by the cashier and it was about $13. Anyway, if you order this you have a longer wait time b/c they have to cook the steak to order. It was a good meal DH says. We had choc. and carrot cakes for dessert but sadly ended up throwing away two of them the next day b/c we were leaving and they needed refridgerated. The choc. frosting is really good!

That night we bought some snacks for the next day. In the bakery we snagged the last cinnamon roll and at the candy shop we had a choc. covered pretzel with nuts, a smore candy, 2 unicorn lollipops and a mickey rice crispy. The freshly made candy was so yummy. I wish we had bought more.

Next review will be our morning before leaving POP!

FINAL DAY-POP- Breakfast 8:30

We ate part of the cinnamon roll from the MK bakery when we woke up and it was heavenly and so big! This was a sad day for us and no one wanted to leave. There were tears as we left our room! The only good thing about leaving was that we missed our cat and the weather was really hot. I think we just needed a rest day.

We used up the rest of our credits by getting a bounty platter ( very little of it was eaten, I guess we were too sad). We also got a fruit bowl of cantelope, honeydew melon and grapes and a bagel. We had two more snack credits so I picked up two more rice crispy treats since they last several days. We put our snacks in a carry on bag along with several drinks ( which had to be finished before the security check) and we left on ME at 10 AM.

Final thoughts- The QSDP was a good choice of us for this trip b/c we didn't want to spend a lot of time at TS restaurants and being from the north we were not used to this kind of heat and couldn't eat as much on some days. However, we've had the DDP before and I did miss some of our favorite places to eat like Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. I'm not sure what we will do next time we go. It was nice to have the dp and not worry about how much we were spending, although we did not need dessert with each meal.

Here are our fav meals and snacks from the week:

Me- create your own pasta from AOA ( alfredo and chicken)
nachos from Mexico

Hope you all enjoyed my dining review and that it helped some of you with quick service choices. We can't wait to go again and maybe I can finally try the honey chicken at AK!

That was a great report and I will use some of your suggestions in November.

Thank you, Slightly Goofy

i really enjoyed reading your trip report. we are going in october and staying at POP w/ the quick service dining plan. i wasn't planning on walking to AOA, but now i might have to give it a try. thanks for all your wonderful info. :)

Yes, walk to AOA! It is so nice to have 2 food courts available. If your room is by the lake( we were in 60s lakeside and near a stairway), you will be really close to the bridge and it is a really short walk. It's also fun to look at their gift shop as they have some different things that the POP shop does not have. My dd11 bought a great how to draw disney characters book that we could only find at AOA.

Great reviews! Thank you! We have done the QSDP on each of our stays, with one split stay which included the DDP. We also visit one or two TS restaurants during our trips.

Have you ever eaten at Tangeriene Cafe? Great use of a CS credit and a huge plate of food, fit for sharing! I can't wait until next month as I have wanted to eat there for over a year. :lmao:

Is the buffet at Coronado Springs Pepper Market, daily> When we stayed there, they didn't have anything like that.

Thanks again!!

Yes, both the breakfast and lunch buffet at Coronado are daily. Keep in mind the lunch is only until 2 PM.

I did eat at the Tangerine Cafe once several years ago and it was good. My kids did not want to eat there this time so we skipped it. I love the atmosphere in Morocco and their gift shops!

Glad everyone is getting some good info from this trip report.
