Free or cheap kindle books for a preteen girl

My neice got a kindle for Christmas and has no books on it yet. She has been playing a game and loves it so far.
I went over today and did a search for free or cheap books for a preteen girl (she is 12) and came up with nothing.
Does anyone know how to search for only books for her? My brother does not want to go through every book and read the synopsis to find books for her, there are way too many Harlequine romance to deal with and he can't take it anymore.
I told him someone on these boards will have the answer.

Go to the kindle store on amazon. Choose e-books. Then choose children's e-books. Click on the 9-12 age group. When the books come up, sort by price low to high. Free books will be at the top of the list.

I just recently discovered this site - they do a great job of scouring the 'net, finding free ereads, then breaking them down by category. They have three pages of just YA stuff. The link should take you to the first YA page.

You can always download the classic books...

I got all 15 Frank L Baum Wizard of Oz series books for 95 cents!

And, I just downloaded Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Robin Hood, Jungle Book, etc.

Most Nancy Drew's are $5.99, Boxcar Children are $1.99, Lemony Snicket Books are $6.99. It also depends on her interests. Once she finds a book she likes, Amazon makes recommendations specifically for her.
