As many complaints that I've read, I am debating on just paying the $100 for my family to take Mears shuttle (unless someone tells me it's cheaper to do something else)......what do you think...even though its free, is it worth it?

Here's a thread where I've asked some questions about ME and gotten some good answers: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=911577

Since ME uses Mears, it's hard to imagine coming out even close to even if you're paying for it versus accepting the now-free ME service. But I've learned that you can only board an ME bus if you are staying at one of the "participating" resorts. If you're staying at a participating resort, it'd be a no-brainer to me: take the free ME bus.

I don't know where you are reading all these bad reports because it seems that most people have had good experiences with DME.

And a participating Resort would be any Disney-owned property. This includes all the Value, Moderate, Deluxe and DVC Resorts, as well as Fort Wilderness. Properties NOT eligible for DME are the Swan, the Dolphin, Shades of Green and the Hotel Plaza Boulevard hotels.

Why would you pay mears to be put on the same ME bus and be taken to the same resort as the people who are using ME for free. Paying mears only makes sence if you ARE NOT staying on WDW.

I'm curious to know what complaints you've read about. I can recall only ONE complaint, and to me it was one that Disney handled well. A DIS poster waited about 30 minutes and still no DME bus to take her back to the airport, but resort personnel called her a cab and paid for it! That's the only complaint I've read.

Now, I have read people saying they don't want to take DME for whatever reason, but I've only read one actual complaint about an actual experience. What complaints have YOU read???

You can not take a Mears Shuttle to a WDW resort any longer. When you try to book a WDW resort on their website you get this message

Disney World Magical Express complementary shuttle bus service is now available to ALL STAR MOVIES RESORT. Please call Disney World reservations at (407) 934-7639.

If you would rather ride in a Mears private chauffeur driven Luxury Sedan with Meet and Greet baggage claim service, please click the button below
.

I used ME in July and had no problems.

I agree with others... there is a logic problem here. Paying for Mears means you get the EXACT same treatment as the FREE program. Personally I would go for free in that case.

ME seems to work VERY well... remember that what you read on any message board is always going to show much more bad then good. Most folks don't bother to post if thier experience was positive just like with hotels and resturants....

You can't make a reservation on a Mears shuttle to a Disney resort. If you go to the Mears desk you can buy a ticket and you'll be transported on a ME bus.

We had absolutely no problems with DME. We found the CM's with white gloves who directed us where to go and within about 5 minutes we were on a bus. Going home was the same. We weren't flying on a participating airline but that wasn't a problem at all. We just checked our luggage in at the hotel when we checked out in the morning and hung out in the pool for about 3 hrs. We got our luggage out about 15 minutes before DME bus picked us up. The driver was very helpful on telling us where to go in the airport to check in. Just a little tidbit, we stayed at Pop Century & to help the kids pass the time, the CM's gave them sidewalk chalk and they did hula hoop contests.

I just took ME and I loved it ....definately for free it is a great value.

We just returned from WDW 9/17 and used ME and it was wonderful. We waited about 10 minutes for the bus, but after that we were at the Polynesian within 25 minutes. I would definitely recommend this free service.
