I will be staying at BCV and WLV in a couple weeks. I know free Internet access for members staying on points was a new benefit that was to be started this year. Does anyone know if free access has started at these resorts?

Someone must know the answer to this question. I can't believe I am the only one interested in this.

Still charged for it last week at BCV.

Jim the President of DVC stated in his column in the Spring Edition of Disney Files (stupid magazine, very little DVC stuff in it), that we needed to stay tuned and check the next edition of the Disney Files (so that means, we'll be talking about it again in Dec at the annual member meeting).

Why move fast on this?

The longer they delay this the more they make on daily access. Seems that members have been willing to pay for it. I really can't understand why it has already taken this longer to get DVC members free wired access unless the the delay is to squeeze more $$ out of members.

It would be a nice perk that seems to have stalled.

We just returned from BWV on 2/29. We asked about the free internet at check in and was told by the front desk that it was a DVC issue and talk to them. Several DVC CMs told us March or this Spring.
When DH tried to log on he got an error message telling him to call Tech assist. He did, spoke to a nice Tech. He said he thought the internet was free for DVC "but I won't go there". She thanked him for being so understanding then gave him a code to use at log in and the internet was free!
I think the code was time sensitive.
Here's hoping it becomes free for all DVC without the jumping through hoops.

You have to understand.... DVC is just now finishing up replacing VHS tape players with DVD players. It is not a matter of delay it is a matter of time warp and DVC has always been in one.

Well... this is promising. The infrastructure is in place at BWV at least and it is actually possibly functional. :thumbsup2

So in about 5 years they will start replacing the DVD players with Blue Ray DVD players I guess. :)

They announced they were putting coffee tables in the studios at BWV at the 2003 annual meeting. Still hasn't happened.

But on the upside when they decide to do wireless Internet, 802.11N gear will be cheap!
