Ok... we have been going back and forth about buying DVC for some time now and in all probability we would buy from resale for a few reasons unless Dinsey was offering the perfect deal for us. I want to go through the tour when we go down in August, my DH thinks it will be a waste of time. I am trying to entice him by telling him that they give you free gifts like fastpasses (I really did hear this, not sure if it is true or not) just to get him to go on the tour. Last year we didn't do the tour, but we did talk to a guy in EPCOT and he took our info and we got the snazzy Dreams book which I was pretty impressed with... it was clearly a pricey thing to send to someone who "might" be interested in buying in.

ANYWAYS... does anyone know what they are offering you to get you to go on the tour (other than the oppurtunity to buy into DVC).

Thanks!

Disney doesn't need to offer things like free TVs etc. Instead, you might get some free fastpasses, and you will definitely get a nice ice cream sundae. Oh, and a GREAT opportunity to buy one of the most unique timeshares around!

We did the tour in March and we were offered either free fastpasses or a $15 gift card per person who attended the tour. We ended up with $60 in gift cards because DH, DS, and 2 year olf DD and I went.

When we took the tour a few years ago we were each giving a gift card. Can't remember if it was $25 or $50.

We scheduled for them to pick us up at American Adventure in Epcot. This gave us an opportunity to see a little bit of what is backstage at Epcot.

We did a 45 minute program at Magic Kingdom and were all given fastpasses that were good for 4 uses. And you didn't have to wait any time between them. We just gave all of them (4) to our two teens and they went crazy. This was an info meeting only, with no actual tour. We did that at the end of our stay when we decided we were going to buy.

When we went on the tour last month we were offered either 3 fastpasses per person or a $15 gift card each, we took the gift card so the kids got an additional $75 to spend on whatever they wanted.

We just took the tour back on our last trip in June in DL. We received two hats, tote bag, that snazzy book you talked about:), 6 fastpasses that were good for about a month and a $50 gift certificate.

Wow...maybe our guide was a dud or something, but all we got were the FP's and the ice cream...and we bought on the spot. :sad2:

Way back when we bought 10 years ago, we didn't get nuthin. Maybe some popcorn or something like that? :confused3

If the incentive is of key importance, I would definitely confirm its existence when you make your appointment to visit.

Does anyone know if you are a member already but have never met your guide , did you go meet your guide for the heck of it or is that a waste of time?

Well, then I must have a bigger dud. We got nothing!

Okay, I feel better. ;) But sorry for you. I think there is nothing set in stone and its merely at the discretion of the guide and what their whim is that day because everyone's experience seems to vary.

Did you book your appointment ahead of time? I called yesterday to make an appointment, and they said somebody would call me back, but never did. :confused3

Are they more likely to dote on me if it seems impulse? I already know to keep it a super duper secret that I know about you all!

No actually we didnt book it ahead of time. We were walking through downtown disney and were going to book it for the following day but they said why not just do it it now, so we did.

When we bought 10 years ago at the HHI resort we did not receive any goodies. At the time though I thought that was great. It showed me that Disney did not have to offer 'goodies' just to get you in. Their product spoke for itself and I liked that part. Most timeshare 'tours' offer you freebies but you also end up with a lot of pressure.

With DVC we got no freebies but we also received no pressure at all. What I didn't know for sure at the time of purchase is that I got the best 'gift' ever...10 years of awesome vacations and memories for myself and the family.

To me that is priceless and better than any 'freebie' anyday!!!

We were interested anyway, but the fastpasses were a nice touch, especially as my teens sat through the presentation with us.

They actually got quite interested my DD17 was taking notes!

I have to say, I never once felt pressured. It was actually a big selling point for us, even when they called (at our request) it was very low key.

We bought in in January of 07 when the 15th anniversary deals were still on..got $15 discount on points and went to the tour in the first place because in our room at Wilderness Lodge was an offer for a $100 gift card just for taking the tour! We jumped all over it.

With that offer they would have had to beat me back! :rotfl:
