free disney buttons for sale on ebay

Not everyone lives near Disney. Some might not be going any time soon. Some might have passed over the free buttons. Disney was out of them at the time. Or, the people come back with a couple free buttons and their family & friends said, "Hey! Why didn't you pick up a free button for ME?"  Or, their checked-in luggage could have been lost or rummaged through and they lost their buttons and are willing to pay for more.

sure sure, call me cheap I guess, but if I wasn't in disney, why would I need one? I guess I am just not willing to spend money on something that I could get for free while on vacation.

Oh boy, I see arguments waiting to happen on this one. I just saw it as someone who went to the parks, got free pins, and is now selling them to people that don't know any better on ebay.

Some people collect these things. :goodvibes Sometimes they change the designs, and people like to have ALL of them. For whatever reason.

We would not qualify for a "first visit" button, and I would not lie to get one, but I might pay to buy one on eBay if I were doing a scrapbook of DD's first visit. (it's long done, and I'm not adding any buttons - lol - but if it WEREN'T done...I would be tempted - lol. It would look cute on the title page!)

I did not buy them off eBay, but I did pay someone the shipping charges to send me a coule "Happy Anniversary" buttons last year. That way, DW and I could put them on as soon as we touched down at the Orlando airport. (And yes, the workers at Magical Express noticed them and wished us a happy anniversary.)

I could see someone wanting to collect them, or something like that. Sure, they are free, but if the cost is minor, I could see people buying them, just to have them.

I don't see the problem.

How many "free with Happy Meal" collectible toys have been sold on Ebay in years past--especially those blessed for saken beanies.:scared1:

Not my cup of tea on a purchase--but to some other Disney fanatics--they may just want to add to their collection.

It might be neat to buy these if you were planning your first trip & surprising the kids or something like that :)
Probably would be nicer if she mentioned that these are available for free at Disney, though..

Other than EBAY....hahaha Where in the park do you get these...this will be our FIRST TRIP..I would love to get them

if you frequent any board like this, it's not hard to ask some one to ship some to you after their vacation.

But yes, i find it crazy that there's a lot of free things on ebay that people will at least try to sell. Try looking for the free vacation planning dvd. I don't know how many i've seen of those at the salvation army store for a buck or two. Disney even mails it to you for free...

I would have done that for our first trip if I had thought of it.

We got ours when we checked into the resort.

Ehh.. I don't think this is the morally correct thing to do but PPs bring up some really good points about collectors, cute "Surprise! We're going to Disney!" ideas, etc. I think those are the only two events that justifiy someone selling these.

In any case, I hope the purchaser realizes that they are indeed free at WDW.

It's also possible that the seller has no idea you can get these for free. They themselves may have bought them at an estate sale or a tag sale. Or they found them in a family member's belongings & decided to sell them since they knew Disney stuff sells well.

Somehow, I think selling Fast Passes is worse--especially the GAC passes. It is always possible that the buyer may not be able to use them, so the buyer was cheated. But the buyer of these pins, park maps, Disney Dollars or even mugs may enjoy collecting them. They may know they could get them for free but may not care.

Add this to the "what you didn't know until the DIS" thread!

You learn something new on here every day, I guess! :surfweb:

Ooooh! Yes, I got one "Free with Happy Meal" Star Trek collectible toy when the latest movie came out. I always meant to go back and get a couple more, especially the shuttle craft, but got sidetracked at the time and forgot to go back. I wouldn't mind picking them up off eBay if the price was right. :thumbsup2
