Just read this on the Disney Echo site:

"Disney Offers Military Free Pass to Parks

Mon May 12, 2003 07:48 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Walt Disney Co. said on Monday it is offering free tickets to Disney World and Disneyland to U.S. military personnel.
The world's largest theme park operator, which has given breaks to troops before, has suffered weak attendance at its parks from the slow economy and a slump in travel and tourism.

The Federal Aviation Administration has included Disney parks in U.S. no-fly zones as part of tighter national security.

The offer, which includes discounts for friends and family, ends Dec. 19, Disney said."

I have a good friend who is going to be able to take advantage of this. What a great way to honor our military. Certainly one of the better deals I have seen for these great people.

Yes, but they dont 'take into account those members who will not be home in time to use this offer.

My dh will not be home until Late November making a trip before Dec 17 near impossible. And I dont 'want to go without him, which I realize I could.

I mean we're still going but I think this may have been better had it been held off until next year when most everyone will be home.

I have sent a lot of friends the info though so they can enjoy it!@

Unfortunately, with a mobile military, and events consistantly unfolding around the world, not to mention OP Tempo and training, it would be impossible to find a time that would work for everyone in the military. If they waited until the spring, others would complain that the offer started too late for them to participate!!!

I understand the disappointment in missing out... dh was stationed overseas during Desert Shield/Desert Storm, so we missed out on all of the "Welcome Home" offers that took place afterwards (and his unit had just spent almost 8 months in the Gulf). It's great that you still shared the info with others who might be able to take advantage of it. And who knows... maybe your dh's unit will go on block leave when he returns.

When I saw this deal, I RAN to the phone and called my stepdad. He's been working nonstop getting troops ready and he needs a reward. I didn't have to try too hard to convince him and my mom to join us for an Oct. trip. We got an awesome deal at ASMu. I'm so excited! We'd asked them earlier to join us and price was an issue. Not anymore!!! :D :D

We were unable to use the promotion over 9-11, so we're glad we can take advantage of this. My husband is the one who has the unhappy task of calling reservists and filling out the paperwork to deploy them. Some are coming home, and some are still leaving. The offer takes into account your dh might not be able to accompany you by letting you go without him, which is really all they can do to accomodate military who are deployed during this time frame. Perhaps there's a family member or friend who could travel with you, or you could take a Thanksgiving trip. Having him home safe would make it a special Thanksgiving, indeed.
