I wasn't sure where to post this, so I figured I'd go where the most knowledgeable Dis-ers hang out ;)

Is there any way to get the free dining deal if you're staying at a DVC? I'm going to be renting points from a friend's family, and my plan was to buy my park tickets from Undercover Tourist. But if buying a package from Disney with tickets can get me the free dining deal, I'll do that. I've never rented points before, so this is all new to me. Any info anyone could provide would be great!

Thank you! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

You cannot get free dining when you rent DVC points. You can add the dining plan to your reservation (payment is due at check in) and it is not necessary to buy park tickets to obtain the plans.

The free dining plans on cash reservation through Disney requires one to pay rack rate and lately restrictions of miniums on number of nights plus a minium ticket length (latest for the Visa one has a min. of 2 day ticket). If i read right, the Visa deal has people getting the basic quick service plan at the Value resorts, but one can upgrade to the regular ddp with additional cost per person. The moderates and above offers includes the free regular dining plan.

I'm in!:woohoo:

Thanks to the DIS for the planning strategies and quick heads up on the Visa offer announcement . I haven't even received the Disney Visa e-mail yet.

Just because it is "free dining" doesn't mean it would save you money. You pay full price on everything else (no room discount) so not everyone comes out ahead on the deal. You'll enjoy the DVC rooms a lot more, too, unless you go to a deluxe resort, at which point you probably don't save money on the dining plan because of the rack rate room cost.

Thanks for the answers, folks. I figured as much. For the price I'm getting on points (good deal from a friend), I think I could stay at a DVC and pay for dining for less than paying rack rate at a moderate with free dining.

Now to decide whether to drive or fly... And when to go! So many decisions! ;)
