Free dining?

I've heard of people getting the free dining package when booking their WDW vacation, but I can't seem to find any deals. DH and I are planning a trip for Jan. and I'm thinking with the off-season timing, I should be able to get some kind of deal. Anyone have any recommendations? TIA

I don't think it's offered as a 'surprise' deal or anything like that. You need to book during times when Disney has decided to make it available. Most recently, they added some dates in mid-December for Disney Visa cardholders. I haven't heard of any January dates being offered, though.

has been a promotion offered by Disney the last few years for the late August and September time period. That is a historically low attendance period for the parks. Guests have to pay rack rate for a resort room and get free dining. There are a limited amount of rooms at each resort reserved for the promotion. The offer is usually announced around April. There is also a bounce back for guests who attend one year and want to sign up for the next.

Additionally, it seems that recently there have been special pin offers for some people for room, tickets and the dining plan for a low rate. These offers are name specific and are for the Fall months.

Typically there are some deals for that time frame, just not Free Dining. Usually room discounts or ticket deals (free upgrades to Park Hopper and Water Parks and Fun). Usually these are released sometime in late October or early November. Keep your eye on Mousesavers for more info. Once the discounts are released you can call and upgrade any package you have already booked.

With a little luck you might even get Free Dining. It is now available for the late fall which it never was before, so with the economy in a spiral Disney may be getting more desperate.

I just got Free Dining for my trip in November. The Disney Visa card does help you get some of the special offers sooner. Alot of times, the offers come out to the general public about a week later. Good luck!
