What if you check in on Aug 27? Can you still get free dining from 28th on? I'm trying my hardest to make this trip work, haven't booked anything yet. Airfare is so much and when I checked this morning it would cost $400 less if we traveled the day before I had originally planned which would be the 27th but I was counting on free dining so at least it would be one less expense. Does anyone know? Thanks!

What you can do is book a room only reservation without tickets for the 27th and free dining reservation starting the 28th. If you'll use your park tickets the 27th you can pick them up early at Guest Relations at any park or DTD. If you book it for the same hotel, then you can go down to "check in" to your free dining reservation early in the am and start using your dining credits right away on the 28th.

I'm 99% sure that if you're booking as a package, the price/rules of check in date apply to entire trip. Assuming this is true, I would book a room only stay for the 1st night, then check in again the next morning for the package with free dining.

What airline are you looking at that it's $400 more for 1 day earlier? SWA has Sun flights for $89 pp one way.

We arrive one day before the August free dining on Aug. 18. (The one without the memories book)

We just booked a separate room only as noted above. I checked and they didn't want to "connect" the reservations. I think the reservations system keeps track of the special you are reserving, and won't let the CM enter or connect any dates that are not in the system.

My guess is it keeps people from insisting that they booked special rates or packages that run longer than inteneded.

I believe I read somewhere it may be possible to pick up park tickets early for a package, but I've never tried it.

If you booked a package arriving the 27th, you would not be eligible for free dining since free dining doesn't start until the 28th. But, you could book room only for that first night and then book a package with free dining starting the 28th :). If you booked both stays at the same resort, you could have the ressies linked and when you check in, let them know you have a continuing reservation and would like to keep the same room if possible. You will have to check out and check back in for the package, but that's just a matter of going down to front desk to get your new KTTW card with your park tickets and DDP. You could even get your park tickets on your arrival day by going to any park's guest relations and requesting early ticket pick up; however, your dining credits would not be available until the next day when you officially check in for the package ;).
