For those of you who have been lucky enough:cool1: to get the free dining promotion before can you explain it to me how it works? are the room rates just standard prices? and also are you required to purchase any specific type of ticket to the parks? thanks for all the info. and lets keep our fingers crossed for the free dining!

We did the bounceback program in December and are going in August for free dining.
We had to buy a one day ticket for each person in the room and pay standard room price for ASMo which is $82 a night.
We are staying 10 nights so I am not sure how many nights you must stay.

It's usually a 3-night minimum and you have to purchase at least a one day ticket to get the free dining. There is no discount on the room. You have to pay rack rate. I think the only exception is if you have AAA. Then you can get a slight discount, maybe 10-15%, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Of course, Disney can change the rules at any time.

Here's my free dining question...let's say I am able to get free dining for my September trip. Then let's say in July, Disney releases the public code for package discounts...would I be able to apply the code to my trip to receive the discount IN ADDITION to the free dining?

Thanks!

Nope... its one or the other.
You cannot use 2 promotions.

From what I have gathered from reading the boards, the 40% discount can't be used anymore, right?

And if I'm just staying at a value or moderate resort, then do you think it would be better to stick with the free dining?

This board rocks! I thought I was a Disney veteran, but you guys know so much! I love learning from everyone!

Correct, the 40% pin code offer is over. Free dining is a great deal for those that like a lot if sit down meals or character buffets. We got the 40% discount, but for our family DH, me and 3 "Disney Adults" staying at AKL, free dining would have saved us about $300 more than what we received. All depends on the breakdown of the family and where you are staying.

Some people still prefer their AP room discount and paying for their meals - all a matter of what you are looking to do...

has there always been a 3 night minimum? And just to make sure im understanding the ticket requirement, do i need to purchase one theme park ticket per day of the trip, or only a one day ticket for the entire trip?

There was a 3-night minimum stay for free dining last year, and I'm pretty sure it was required for the year before, though we didn't go during the free dining then. Most other discounted packages require a 3-night stay as well. Can't remember if AP discounts require a minimum stay because we always stay 10 days, but I know seasonal passholder discounts usually don't have a minimum stay. My BIL is a seasonal passholder and had a discount with only 2 night stay.

You need to purchase at least a one-day park ticket for the entire trip for everyone in your party, not one ticket per day. That was the requirement for the last 2 years. I would think it would be the same this year, but we won't know for sure until the discounts come out, if they come out.
