Hello folks,

I was looking at the Free Dining Dates for 2017 and noticed there were several black out dates. My question is:

If my trip starts on or is within those black out dates is my "whole" trip blocked from "Free Dining"?

I have a thought on this but come here for the experienced diner comment! :D

Thanks in advance for the help.

If your first day falls during the black out you are blocked for the whole stay unless you do a split stay. If your first day is not a black out day you get free dining for the length of stay.

Hope this helps. :wave2:

Valstew is exactly correct. If your first day is going to be in a black out period you can do a split stay and start your second part of your trip on a free dining day. However, you cannot be guaranteed that you will be in the same room for the second part of your stay. Consider this carefully if you want to try and get free dining for part of your stay.
If your dates are at all flexible
I would think about arriving on a free dining day and avoid the possibility of a split stay headache.. Good luck! Cheers!!!!!!!

The only date that matters is your check-in day. If you check-in during the promo, you get free dining for your entire stay. If you check-in during the blackout period, even if it's the last day of the blackout, you are out of luck unless you want to do as others have suggested and do a split-stay.

Would also add if you do a split stay your second part of your stay must have certain number of tickets as part of your package. Pretty sure those tickets tied to your second stay wouldn’t be valid to redeem for admission until your start of your second stay - which likely complicates planning.

If you have a smaller party consider looking at room discounts when they come out as sometimes savings can be a wash.

You can activate your package tickets tied to the second part of a split stay early, once you arrive at DW by visiting Guest Services.

But, important caveat: You won't be able to book FP+ against them until they are activated.

True. But not really a big deal. Most people are only looking to add an extra night or two on to qualify for free dining. People should try to make fp's for AK and HS later in their trip anyways if they want FOP or the new toy story land rides.

I knew I'd get the full story from the group:-)

Thanks folks!
