So what do you need to "book" to get FD?

I want to buy 10 day, non-exp.hoppers to have in my back pocket for a couple small trips since it's now just DH & I. Say FD comes out, do I have to book a ticket package to get it? Or is it room & dining for FD?

Do ALL packages have tickets? Am I wasting my time & $$ by getting the tickets ahead of time?

Thanks.

For dining plan (free or otherwise) you must purchase a package that includes tickets. For FD, since last year, they made the requirement of two day base tickets.

Magic your way packages include at a minimum room (not sure if there's a req. for 2 nights) and 1 day base tickets.

You can then add dining and increase the tickets days or add options like hopper, water, no-exp...

So if I had my own tickets, booked a room, I couldn't buy the dining package? Even out of pocket??? I HAVE to have a package to BUY the dining plan? Not even talking about Free Dining?

Did not know that. Shoot...

Yes, the only ones that can buy the DDP without also buying park tickets are:

1. AP holders paying either rack rate or using an AP discount for the room
2. people staying on DVC points
3. military pkgs

even these people must pay rack rate for the room and buy at least two day park tickets in order to get free dining though

If there's a chance that you'll want free dining should it come out, don't pre-purchase your tickets. If you'll want to buy a dining plan then don't pre-purchase your tickets unless you plan to rent DVC points. If those small trips are all in one year then you might do well by purchasing APs rather than non-expiring tickets because then you can book at AP package which would allow you to purchase a dining plan without having to purchase additional tickets.

DH and I purchased APs last year since we knew we'd be back and spend more than 10 days total. Now, we are booked at WL for 8 days with an AP discount on the room and we paid for dining. The reduced room rate more than covered the cost of the dining.
