No, I haven't booked that time and I would never book the DPP for longer than 3 days anyway (so a 3-day stay) too much food and too much temptation for me
Disney introduced the 'free'
DDP as a way to fill rooms at their slowest part of the year - American kids back at school combined with a few years of bad hurricanes. It also helps to keep people on-site (Disney's attendance figures are up; Universal and Sea World's are down) and is available as a paid-for add-on to the tickets at any other time. Incidentally, as DVC members we don't have to purchase any tickets (although many would already have an AP - bought with the generous DVC discount

).
DVC members were generally pretty impressed when we were allowed to
purchase it, after all, we don't need tempting to go back; they've got us! Many don't see it as being that great a deal for members because of the kitchen facilities; even if you only use them for breakfast and the odd snack.
Historically this is the timeframe when Disney offered great discounts on room rates to tempt people. These have now gone and the deal is you have to pay full rack rate for your room. That's okay if it's the Values such as All Stars at $79, but when you get to the Beach Club and Boardwalk it is a hefty $305 - all plus tax of course

.
In short, I doubt if you posted this over on the US DVC boards you would get much sympathy because if used smartly, DVC membership gives great value on upscale accommodation. Nothing wrong with the All Stars - I've stayed there and enjoyed it - but it doesn't compare to any DVC villa.
I have seen a post where they chose to rent out their points so they could book at a Value and take advantage of the free DDP, so that's an option open to you too. Hope this helps to make you feel happier and not penalised
