Free Dining Past October 2nd 2010-Pins are out to 12/24

They did have a free dining bounceback in August/September 2009 for 2010, but you had to book before October 24. There weren't any after that.

They did not offer any other free dining bounceback for 2010 that could be booked during the October/December public free dining period.

So those staying at Disney through October 24 2009 had the option of booking free dining in August/September 2010? So those who took advantage of the first few weeks of the October/December offer were able to bounce back in 2010?

Yes, Mousesavers' historical chart says the 2009 bounceback offer began on August 16 and expired October 24. I think the poster wants to know if she changes her reservation to December will she be able to book a free dining bounceback for 2011.

No way to predict the future with Disney, but last year it wasn't offered past October 24.

Thanks ladies, that was what I was scared of, those that went for FD in December 2009 didnt get a chance to bounceback for the normal FDpromotion in 2010, like those of us that were at WDW in August and Sept 2009. I may need to just keep my ressies for Sept 2010 dont want to miss out on bouncN back for 2011 already booked the DCL Dream,hope they have a FD bounceback promotion for Fall 2011. If FD comes out in Dec 2010 then I will just take a short trip, really want to see the Christmas Decorations and nice weather!

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere but anyone have any idea whether Disney will extend their offer of free dining beyond October 2nd? If so, when should we know (based on historical data). Thanks!

I don't think they extended it last year past the initial end date. There were some people that received special offers for after the end date, but not a public wide type of offer.

You should probably go over to the "Codes and Rates" subforum under the Resort board. You'll find lots of Free Dining chat over there.

From what I know, everything this year is uncertain and there are no givens or even hints as to how long free dining will be. Many questioned if it would even be offered this year (up until the day it was released.) Disney has released statements that they will be cutting down on all of the deals starting this year. I'd say its just 50/50...I won't be surprised if its extended and I won't be surprised if its not. It also seems that they aren't opening as many rooms to the deal this year because some resorts were booked quickly once it was announced.

There was a second, separate general public offer in 2009 for check-ins between September 26 and December 17.

That's the only time it was ever done for the general public. The second offer was released for booking July 24. In prior years there were some targeted pin codes but no public release.

Disney has released statements that they will be cutting down on all of the deals starting this year.

This would REALLY surprise me. Discounts get people to the resort where they can spend lots of money on whatever! I started doing to WDW as an adult in 2001. Every year since there has been some sort of discount in the off season. I guess we'll see!

Not sure if it's possible but you could always change your reservation. As long as you check in by October 2nd you get it for your entire trip (pending your trip isn't longer than 14 days that is).

This may have already been answered somewhere in the course of all the free dining discussions going on, so I apologize for asking again. I thought I remembered last year that if you checked in by the last day of free dining you could still get it for your entire stay. I called a CM yesterday and asked this question and she stated thatit only lasted until October 2nd...so in other words, if you checked in on October 1st you only had free dining 2 days? Has anyone else heard anything different?

That is incorrect ... unless they've changed their rules this year ... in the past as long as you checked in during the promotion, no matter if it was the first day of the promotion or the last day of the promotion, then you received that promotion for your entire stay. (up to 14 days of course)

I have heard of the great news for free DP for the fall, I go every Fall and usually bounce back while I am there, unfortunately I did not bounce back last year for this year. But my question is last year Free dining was offered again after the fall free dinning promotion, I had received an email with a pin code I cant remember the dates but I do know they went to December 2009, does anyone remember the dates and when they found out about the promotion, I am thinking about maybe trying to wait around to see if it is offered again. I would love to go to WDW during the Christmas season would love to see all the decorations, lights, parades and parties, also if you could share with me how the crowds and weather is thinking about going the second week in December! Thanks

I can tell you that the crowds changed drastically between Christmas time in 2008 and Christmas time in 2009. 2008 was busy ... but mildly busy. In other words it was bearable. My brother went last year and said it was just packed like crazy. Which is odd because when we lived there, Christmas time was busy but always manageable. I can only attribute the free dining extension as a partial cause to the influx in crowd levels. So for 2010 I would say ... it's hard to say. We don't know what winter promos are going to come our way. Hope this helps.

The CM I spoke with said she would check and then came back to the phone and said they changed it from last year. But I don't always trust everyone I speak to at WDW Travel as you can talk to 5 different people and get 5 different stories.

That is incorrect. We check in on October 2 and have free dining for 7 days. I had no problem changing my ressie at Port Orleans with a 30% off pin to FD-- a much better deal, especially since the last 2 days were blacked out with the pin.

Thanks so much,you mention that it was busy in Dec of 2009 due 2 the FD promotion would you say it is more busy than FD in the Fall(Sept) or less?

For those of us the have been waiting for Free dining over those dates you hit the Lottery! (been Praying for That pin for months)
But for those who didn't need / want it, it was just another thing to delete
