Free Dining & package question

This one should be easy...

If and when they offer free dining, it's only if you book a package (room & passes) right?

My DH got me all excited about free dining but then I realized it won't work for us since we stay on DVC points and already have AP's.

They have never offered free dining for DVC points stays and a 99.99% chance they never will (unless part of a promo to buy more points).

We are also DVC members and have done the free dining promo ever since it was offered. For the free dining promo you must purchase at least a one day/one park pass ( at least this was in past years and also for this year's BB promo). This can be applied to your AP renewal so you don't really lose anything. Of course you can't use your points for the ressie. It's still worth it to us- we get another vacation that is affordable and save our points for another time. Who ever has enough points anyway, lol?---Kathy

But you can't stay on points. You have to rent a room from Disney....

(There is an entire thread on "beating the system" by double booking on the DVC boards right now LOL!)
