Are you folks checking into the testing resorts after November 1st able to order MB and make FP+ choices? People have posted on the Theme Park board that someone in the UK got an e-mail from Disney IT stating that all FP+ testing would stop on 10/31/13 and resume again in January.

Pretty sure some November checks are saying they can use the new system

Why would you want to take a room away from people that actually want to stay at POP? Also by doing this your essentially paying for the MB, yes it sound great bit great enough to pay for?

I get what your saying and it makes sense. My sister is arriving a day early and plans on staying at POP regardless weather she gets the magic bands or not. She's rented a fifth wheel camper and wanted to get it all set up in the morning so she could go to the parks but when she got her airfare, she could only get a 4:30pm flight so she was able to switch flights to a earlier one the day before. Which leaves her doing a room only reservation. Guess she figured what not doing it at a testing resort.

Ok group, I've got a question!

I've been reading a lot about ghost reservations being made at a MB testing resort (usually POP), checking in online, but never physically checking in. Then checking in (both online and physically) at their real resort (albeit a non MB testing one) at the proper time.
This apparently gets these folks MB for their entire stay - including the non MB testing resorts. So far the only glitch some have noted is that although they are able to choose FP+ ahead of time, they are unable to change them on the fly once their real dates start.

So, what have y'all heard about this, and what are your thoughts? We're staying at WL, which doesn't seem to have a chance in heck of getting MB. But from what I'm reading, a dummy/ghost reservation at POP would get me MB for our whole trip. I'm beginning to think that an extra $130 on a ghost reservation would be worth it to get MB for our whole trip.

Please give me your thoughts, comments, complaints, suggestions, reprimands, what have you! Good, bad or indifferent, let me know what you think, please!

If this is a once in a lifetime trip for you, I think it might be worth the trouble and money just to try the MBs. However, looking at your sig, Im sure this wont be your last trip! Id just enjoy your trip, and worry about Magic bands next time after it fully rolls out.

Interesting. Wouldn't this tie up a room for someone really trying to stay at pop? But i see no one is commenting. I will keep my eye on this thread.

Yes, it would, and the rational part of me is telling me that this is very wrong. Just look at how much grief everyone got right after free dining dropped and had 2 and 3 package reservations.

interesting idea and I have seen posts that people are doing this. We would need 2 rooms so twice as expensive. I would be afraid that when we didn't check in at POP my POFQ reservation would be canceled. And yes, it is taking up rooms at POP.

Hoping that in the next few weeks that Disney will make an announcement about the timeline for rolling out FP+ so people are able to plan their vacations based on what will be going on when they are there. We are checking into POFQ on October 19th and I am planning not to have FP+. If that changes between now and check in I am going to have to scramble to figure out what I need to do.

I wish Disney would make some sort of announcement too, the not knowing if WL is suddenly going to get thrown into testing is killing me, although all sources I've seen say it is impossible that that will happen.

What about staying at POP the first night? Then you'd actually save money.

Funniest part - my original package that I booked back in February was to start 10/20, and we've already added a day to the front because some plans changed. The change of plans? My mom and dad wanted us to stay at the condo they rented for 1 night, and I refused because I don't want to pack and repack and unpack more than once!

I think my sister is trying to do the same thing. She is staying at Fort Wilderness Campground but there not testing so she did a room only reservation at POP in the hopes of getting the magic bands. She wants these magic bands so bad but me, not so much.

I'm so torn. I want the bands for the convenience factor, but theorectly, since the KTTW cards are RFID, if I situate it in my purse/wallet the right way, I shouldn't have to remove it at all. (if that makes sense)

I seem to have a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. They are currently fighting.

You're right, of course. I'm just getting caught up in the hysteria. I'd hate to go ahead and book the ghost reservation, then Disney clamp down on this sort of thing and not be able to use the MB at all. I've also seen trip reports from folks who are not at all happy with the bands. I am completely confident about KTTW cards, I am only mostly confident about MB.

I didn't mention this before, but another part of my problem is that we will be touring for a few days with my AP holder mom and dad, who will probably have bands and FP+. This could affect how we are able to tour as a group. But then again, all 5 of us are spur of the moment folks when it comes to rides so maybe FP+ isn't right for any of us this trip. Heck, I panic for weeks about ADRs. I'm still looking at them daily and wondering if I need to make changes. Both my DH and DS said that the MB would be great if we got them, but it wouldn't ruin their trip if we didn't have them. I'm probably going to listen to my rational side and just stay put as we are. I won't tie up a room needlessly at POP and keep it from someone who could really need it, and I will be happy to just be in the World.

Dont get me wrong, I love the disboards! Everyone here has helped me out on so many aspects, and my trip is going to be better for it!!! But with the extra knowledge, at least for me, has brought extra anxiety!!! Its easy to get caught up in the hysteria, espically with all the unknown!!! Good luck with whatever you decide! It sounds like your trip will be great either way!

I just randomly clicked around in on my reservations through MDE yesterday and there was an option to customize FP+ bands! Sorry, I've been out of the loop lately... did this happen to many people? I never received an email or any notification about being a candidate for FP+, but caught it a day before they were going to mail us generic ones.
