That's not what they're designed for but it wraps around the band. To me it looks like it could help prevent it from falling off. Maybe. YouTube it, that's where I saw it and got that use in my head. Lol

One of the YouTube videos I saw had them in the contemporary gift shop.

I'm not going to "seek them out" but of I come across them I might get a slider.

We are from PA....I hate those tests...I'm sorry. But all they do is stress the kids out and it doesn't affect them directly.

So I went to do online check in tonight because I'm at 60 days. Their website has me at 61.....so I couldn't do online check in tonight. I'm not happy...I was looking forward to it all day. My countdown on my phone even has me at 60 days. Grrr. Guess I'm doing it tomorrow night.

I completely agree....EVERYTHING is determined by those annoying PSSAs....We get SOOOO sick of hearing about them at school...

The teachers had to teach everything up until the PSSAs and than review afterward. Thats not fair to them. Than to stress the kids out on top if it....that's ridiculous.

My countdown (along with lots of other things on MDE) was wrong. When IT fixed it, it fixed the countdown too.

Cool, this is beginning to get really interesting here. You know, you have to pass through NC on your way to FL. Unless you're flying, then I guess you'd be passing above, not through. Either way, wave as you go by or even stop & say hello.

Have a wonderful Disney Christmas!!! My oldest is in seventh grade, and like you, we figured why not this year?? Things are only going to get busier and harder. I was only nervous because at school registration we were notified of new attendance policy: you have to "request" absence from principal, and he is determine if it is excused on unexcused. If unexcused, automatic 15% reduction on all assignments. I submitted my letters to principals, teachers and coaches, and first thing the very next morning, the principal calls offering well wishes and that his absence would be excused.

Life is short! In my oldest son's young life, he has already had 4 separate classmates/team mates, that have lost a parent. Treasure every moment!

Thanks! I agree. You have a wonderful trip too! It will be unexcused (only Dr. appointments, funerals and the like are excused), but it does not effect her grade (that I know of).

The school system around here (Raleigh, NC area) have a policy that if you miss more than 4 days during a 9-week grading period, you will automatically get an 'F' for that 9 weeks regardless of your GPA unless ALL of your absences are excused (i.e. doctor's notes and/or pre-approved other reasons). My son & his family would have loved to come with us (DD & her family + me) this year, but they'd have to take the kids out of school at least 2 days. As long as my older DGS didn't get sick during that grading pd, he'd be okay, but if he did ... am very disappointed that they won't be able to be there, but hopefully we'll be able to arrange something so we can all go sometime.

Ah man, that is stinky! We live around the Fort Worth area in Texas. Not sure about the other districts, but absences don't effect your grade. You just have to make up work. It won't be excused though.

Again, I am a teacher. If any school district denied our request, I would have lots of "defense".....Schools should recognize that children should be well rounded individuals, learning doesn't begin and end at the school doors, parents and teachers should be partners in education, life experiences help build background knowlede that helps students excel in the classroom....and, seriously, what is the child going to miss from school in those few days that he/she will never learn in life bc of the Disney trip? (nothing)....what would the child never experience by skipping a Disney trip (lots!).

It is nice to see this. I totally agree! I take my children's formal education very seriously (and they are all good students), but there is much to learn outside the school with time spent with family. My boys are both in elementary school and we are going the last week before Christmas - so they won't be missing anything but all the Christmas parties and the week of craziness. We will see with my daughter being in middle school. I plan on speaking with the teachers soon, once they get past these first few weeks.

Guys n Gals, I just wanted to take a minute to say THANK YOU! I'm new to the boards and am subscribed to a bunch of threads but this is by far the best one. It's funny and interesting and just plain nice to read. I see some of you on the other threads too so you have to understand where I'm coming from... It's a million different people asking the same questions over and over again because they wouldn't read 5 posts back! Ahhh! I'm not normally mean but I do have to fight the urge to reply nastily at times. :-(. Sorry, didn't mean to vent. Just wanted y'all to know you are by far the BEST!
