IF Disney decides to offer free dining next year, is there an option to pay the extra $$ to upgrade it to the 'deluxe' plan?

And is there any early word on if there will be free DDP next late summer/earlyfall?

They already have the bounce back for free dining going on at this time. You have to be a registered guest of a WDW resort to get it. Yes they are offering the upgrade to the deluxe plan. The dates for next year start later than this year the first date for the bounce back is Aug 29th. I have no idea though if this will be offered to the general public later.

I would love to see the free dining be offered to the GP in the spring again, but fear the window of opportunity continues to shrink each year. In 2005 there seemed to be about 8 weeks to choose from, then again in 2006 about 8 weeks, then in 2007 the GP had 4 weeks to choose from (not including the BBP, which had a bigger range of weeks, about 6-7). Then the BBP is being offered for next year, 2008, and the range of weeks are now only 4. So you take all of the folks who were spread out in the 8 week range, and squeeze them into only 4 short weeks. You give the first booking opportunity to those there now, I question, will there be anything left to even offer the general public in April 2008? I would love to see it offered, and would love to see it mid August as they did in 05/06, but have already started working on my AUgust 2008 plans and won't be factoring in free ddp whatifs. I'm moving on and planning that it won't be offered. However, if it was and it fit into my plans, I certainly would jump on it. I would've even booked a flight and flew down to book the BBP if it was offered mid-August 2008, but it wasn't....at least in the US. However, I did see most of August 2008 was offered to our friends in the UK, so there's still a glimmer of hope, though not very bright anymore.

Yes its a cost of $32 per day (for adults) ro upgrade to the DDDP. We did it and cant wait to try lots of food!!!

Where can I find information on the deluxe meal plan. The pp said you can upgrade for $32.00 a day per adult. Put what are the differences in the regular dining plan & the duluxe for 2008.

The deluxe dining plan is 3 meals (either CS or TS) and 2 snacks per person per night of your stay. PLUS a refillable mug per person per stay.

The regular dining plan is 1 TS, 1 CS and 1 snack per person per night of your stay.

The other major difference is that TS meals on the deluxe plan include a starter/appetizer and they do not include that on the regular dining plan.

The Deluxe plan offers each person 3 Dining credits and 2 snacks credit for each night you stay. Also there is a free refillable mug per person. You can choose either CS of TS with this plan. Also iwth TS who can choose an appetizer on regualr paln this has been removes. It cost 69.99 per person for 08 so 32.00 is a steal.

That brochure says that the appetizer is still included in the deluxe plan. I thought it was not included in any plan?

How crowded will the restaurants during free dining be now that they have deluxe dining? You will definately have to make your reservations 180 days out.

The same people that eat 3 TS meals a day now will be the ones booking the DDDP...or the same people who prefer the signature restaurants (and tended to have nightly ADRS for them anyway) will be booking the DDDP. You won't find many newbies spending $180 per night for 2 A/2C to get the DDDP, I don't think, unless travel agents really start pushing it heavily. You'll still see folks with the base level DDP and they'll probably start using it for buffets more so that their "starter" is included since all the buffets have soups and salads.

We booked the Bounceback while there last week :cool1:

We were offered to upgrade to deluxe for a fee, which I said no, I couldn't imagine eating any more, but like she said it is used mostly by folks who like character breakfasts and a sit down dinner, or like the 2 credit dinner shows or signatures.

She also offered me a new special where for an added amount (sorry I didn't ask) we could get a bottle of wine each day with our TS meal. I said no, it will only be me that could drink and a bottle of wine a day would mean no park the next day ;) Thought it was an interesting concept.

She did tell me that 2008 would not include gratuity, but she never mentioned the loss of the appetizer.

wow - that's a good deal! - to upgrade to deluxe dining at $32/day for 3 TS/CS meals - too bad it's in september (we prefer end of october for F&W, also a bit cooler) but that's a good deal for lots of other people!

I hope they offer free dining in August like they are doing for the UK. DH & I are going August 3-17th, but if they had free dining starting Aug.10th then I would push the trip until then!! We may even splurg for the DDDP!!
