I was at a party the other night and got introduced to this person who is a travel agent who told me their father is a major stockholder who gets all the inside info...... and this info was that Disney would start offering Free Dining in May (in addition to the Aug/Sept free dining that is already offered).

So....anyone else out there hear anything like this or is this just another one of those hopeful rumors???

Well to join in on the guessing game, I would be surprised. For one thing, Free Dining was started to increase travel during hurricane season. No hurricanes in May. They have the flower and garden show at Epcot and that draws in locals and garden lovers. Add to that grad nights and you actually have pretty consistent numbers going to WDW. Also, May has gotten more crowded as the years have worn on, so its not like this is a super low attendance time. Its sandwiched between two hugely busy seasons, spring break and summer. I guess you never know, but to me May in no way is similar to the time frame that Free Dining occurs during. Who knows if they will even offer FD during late August, into September, 2008. If Florida misses the hurricane bullet again this year, they may not feel the need to offer it again. I hope they do because I'd like to try it out next year! But I for one would be surprised if they offered it in May. But then I never thought they'd take the wand off of Spaceship Earth either!

I don't think this would happen. Maybe they will announce free dining in may? for the fall months? I know I have been many may's, I don't think it is slow enough at that time of year for then to offer an incentive like that.

Doubt it, but that would be so great. I am planning on going in May, anyway.

Yeah I'm also thinking that's when they're going to announce the free dining for the late summer season. It would be very magically if Disney did decide to do that two times a year :rotfl2: :wizard:

. . . their father is a major stockholder who gets all the inside info . . .

1) Disney does not release future plans to selected groups.
2) They announce such things publicly.
3) Additionally, giving stock holder such info could be Insider Trading.

I posted this on the other thread, but I agree that it is entirely too crowded already in May for them to need Free Dining to attract business. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the replies. I was pretty sure that this person was giving out wrong information.

But am glad to see that my fellow Disers feel the info was incorrect.
Seeing "free dining" announced in May for the fall seems to follow the historical trend of the last few years.

The comment this person made about "being a major stockholder" did not ring true. I hold stocks in more than a few companies and wait like the rest of us for info to be made public.

Here's to ridiculous rumors!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Exactly. Even CMs don't always know things too far ahead of a public announcement.

I haven't heard anything about free dining in May, and I absolutely do not think it's likely.
