Free Dining...Finally Filling Up?

I'm sorry if this has been talked about already.

My wife and I decided to take advantage of the extension of the window to sign up for free dining...we added a day to the beginning and end of our trip. We are now going from September 9-16.

Our original reservation was for All Star Movies...when I asked for the change, I was told the promo wasn't available for those dates at the ASM anymore. For a value hotel during my dates, the All Star Sports and POP were the only ones available.

Obviously I am only talking about the values, and only during my certain week, but I'm sure this is not an anomaly. It seems they are finally starting to fill their available slots for the promotion.

FYI...when I was done with the reservation on the phone, I went online and priced the same trip (at ASM) WITHOUT free dining, to see what I saved. Rooms WERE available during my week when free dining wasn't used, and I saved over $500!

hmmm, that's very strange. You should be able to get the EXACT same price quote for free dining as without - I've played with the site an awful lot of times, and as long as I'm careful to select the right options, I get the same price quote with and without dining.

Also, I checked disney's site for your dates - they are letting me 'book' the 9th-16th at ASMovies (with free dining) but I have no choice but to pick the preferred room location - I don't know what that is costing extra per night.

I think he means he saved over $500 by booking the free dining over booking the cost of booking the room-only-plus-paid-dining-plan (since the free dining at ASMovies is no longer available for his week). The cost of the dining plan for two people for seven nights is $531.86

I did notice when I went in to check our reservation for something that the beginning date for the free dining offer had changed from August 13 to August 20. So it seems at least that first week is filled up.
