I don't recall any type of announcement about this, but when I type in DisneyWorld special offers, it lists Aug. 17th as the beginning date for free dining. it used to be Aug. 31st.

Somebody on another thread said this is an offer for Canadians only. Apparently free dining for Americans still begins on Aug. 31st.

Hopefully this will help some fellow August travelers. :goodvibes

Saw that yesterday! Wish it could be applied for our trip.. but no chance. We have to remain OOP :(

Unless Disney starts allowing stacking discounts... hmmmm.. lol!

Just a comment here from someone who was just a "wishful thinker" earlier this spring. We haven't been since 2009 and desperately wanted to go for our 30th anniversary this year. Could not afford what i was getting quoted until FD rolled around. I was in the process of booking on-line when my browser crashed so i had to call to complete the process. Her response (you might wanna make sure you're sitting down for this) "OH thanks for the laugh that has to be the best reason for losing a reservation on-line. Huhm, from Canada you say? Ok can you change your dates slightly?" I shrugged to myself wondering what the heck she was up to "sure, depends on why?" She goes on and quotes me a price that saved me <gulp> $2,000.00 just by moving my dates by one week <thud> SInce there is no way we could ever eat that much food i jumped on the new dates.

Now i have no idea why or how this happened because when i plugged in same dates the higher price popped up again. Can you say MAJOR PIXIE DUST??? :cheer2:

Um...THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! I just changed my mother/son trip staying at Pop Century for the week before school starts to 'free' dining. Taking off the room discount and adding free dining means our week of food only cost $160!!!!

Is this Canadian only?

As mentioned, if you access DisneyWorld.com from the U.S., the Free Dining promotion shows up as beginning on August 31. When accessing DisneyWorld.com from Canada, the site is actually different and we see the Free Dining promotion listed as starting on August 17. Whether or not you can book the promotion using a VPN for Canada and book a trip with a U.S. address, I have no idea.

It is only for Canadians - you have to provide proof of address etc.

Rats. :) I find it interesting that there are different promos for Canadians. Are their rates typically higher? What about visitors from other countries?

There are often very different offers on the different international Disney sites.

A few months ago on the UK site there was a totally different free dining promo that had the DDP offered differently then what we've become accustomed to. Quick Service was offered at moderates.. the DDP was offered at deluxe resorts.. and Values had a "free breakfast" offer which consisted of 1 counter service credit per day.

Checking out the international sites is always an interesting read ;). You can access them at the bottom of the home page on Disney's website.

Thank you for posting that!
Just as I thought we had everything set (we made our FP+ ressies last week!) we just changed our room-only reservation for a package with free dining! Yay!
And the CM transferred me to the IT dept so that my FP+ would transfer to the new reservation without losing them (I don't want to lose that precious A & E...) I'm waiting for the room cancellation to go through since it was made with Expedia but I'm cautiously optimistic :)

Boy, I bet a lot of people love you this week. :lmao: :thumbsup2

We've had our vacation booked for a year, Aug 23-30, and it's been paid in full for a while now. I purchased the dining plan when we booked it. We spent about four hours online or so last night going over the availability options for the dining plan promo for our dates.

We've booked the Beach Club, but there is no availability there on the promo, apart from a two bedroom deluxe villa at $13K :rotfl2:

We could save some by going to AKL, break even at a one bedroom villa at BWI, standard room at GF or at CR tower. We could save even more if we went with a cabin at FW, but the more we compared the resorts and the choices, the harder the decision was. We finally decided to stay where we are at the BC. I think the location, the look of the resort and SAB was just too hard to give up.

If we hadn't booked anything we'd definitely have jumped on one of the other options, probably the Standard room at GF.

Yayyyyyy!!!! I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the offer! :)

This is making it nearly impossible not to book a trip this august! ;)

Good to have known about this. Made my reservation last month for Aug 17. Hopefully I can still add the free dining.

You should call as soon as possible to see if there are any rooms available for your dates, they go quickly.

Made the call this afternoon and was able to add the dining plan! Had to pay a small amount for tax though but its worth it! This is our first time to go and we all are super excited! :cheer2:

That's super! I think you'll really like the 'free' dining. You don't have to think about how much the food costs. One tip--if you have a QS meal at your resort you can get a bottle of OJ or milk as well as use your refillable mug for a drink. We always take the OJ and milk for breakfasts in the room. And we can never use all the snack credits so we end up using them for muffins and fruit bowls for breakfast. Have a great time!

I'd like to add my thanks as well. Just called and changed to this offer and it will save us about $500 (we were going with the regular dining plan added to our PIN discounted room and ticket offer). :cool1:
