We have a day in our itenerary with nothing particular to fill it with. I have built in a Water Park and down time at the hotel. What would y'all suggest we do? We will have a car for transportation. Also, we leave for home the next day and it is a long drive home. Thanks for your input.
I have the following in the itenerary:

AK
MK
Epcot
IOA
BB
City Walk
Pool/Hotel
MGM

:) :) :) :)

Hugs! ;)

We've always found that a day at Fort Wilderness can be fun. You can rent bikes at the bike barn and ride around the campground. There is a paved path to Wilderness Lodge. You could ride bikes over there and check it out. You could also hit Tri-Circle D Ranch and take a trail ride on horseback. If you have small children, there are pony rides, as well. They also have a marina, where you can rent motorboats, sailboats, etc. You can have lunch at Trails End Buffeteria, AYCE hotdogs, wraps, subs, and so on for a pretty low price.

OR

Check out one of the mini-golf courses. We prefer Fantasia Gardens to WinterSummerland, but both are fun.

OR

Sea World

Hope this helps!

Wow, that's alot that you have planned to do. How about making a day off earlier in the week, like after the MK or Epcot day? You will most likely need to recharge your batteries by then. You could always go shopping at the Outlets or spend the day at DTD. You could even check out the Boardwalk. There are lots of things you could do, even miniature golf. Just a thought. Mickey

JMHO but I too would (and do) put a rest day in the middle of the trip. Last time on our "rest" day we slept in, ate character breakfast at Cape May, went to DTD, resort pool and hung out at the BW (which was our resort).

Wouldn't you consider BB as a "day off" relaxing and as slow as you want it to be and not so much walking??? Let me know. Thanks and keep those ideas coming. My DD likes the Ft. ilderness idea!

Hugs! ;)

I would also move the first pool/hotel day up a little earlier in the trip & take another day off. I don't consider a water park day a day off only because we are usually exhausted & worn out after spending the entire day in the water & sun on rides & slides. We usually crash for an hour or 2 after a water park before heading out to a relaxing dinner.

We always make our last day a relaxing one either at the pool or over at FW. We love renting the bikes or some of the boats they have. One year we went to Trail's End Buffet at FW for breakfast, rented bikes & rode on the trail to the WL then spent the afternoon at the pool of our resort (CR). Had a great time. :p

Can you really do MK in one day? That may be difficult depending on the ages of your family and the frequency of your visits to WDW....

If you like to shop, or get a bargain, why not try Belz Outlets?

They have a WDW outlet store that is worth going to. If you need to buy souvies, then it would be worth your while to visit the store.

If you time yourself and do the outlets in a couple of hours, that would mean more pool time for the family. Just a suggestion. ;)

I would too build a rest day into your week a little earlier. If your ticket option allows, I would go back to MK or park hop your favorites on your last day.We used our last day as a rest/shopping day last year and we felt like our vacation ended a day early. If tickets do not allow a park day, shopping and a special dinner can be nice. We like HHDR on the last night. If you want another big day, I would think about Sea World also. We are going to try to find an extra day for that this year.

Let me know what kind of tickets you will have and the ages of your kids if you have any...that would help a ton. If you have hoppers, you might want to rethink your itinerary. But just give me that info, and I'll put in my two cents :D

I would also mix it up a bit. You have four parks in a row! Are you on or offsite? Avoid Magic Mornings if you are offsite or don't plan to take advantage.

Do 2 parks and then a down day, 2 parks, down day, so on....

Thank you so much for your input! How does this sound?

Day 1 Arrive at AKL(noonish)
Day 2 AK
Day 3 MK
Day 4 BB
Day 5 Down Day/Late Day Park Epcot?
Day 6 IOA
Day 7 Leave for home

I have not bought or decided park tix yet so input on that would help. BTW, our arrival day will put us at the Hotel at noonish. Should we plan on a 1/2 day park then? We are staying at the AKL and have our car.

Hugs!

If you think you will be returning to WDW some day I would go with the 7-day PHP pass because the days never expire & prices will only go up as time goes on. Of course these are more expensive.

If you don't plan on returning to WDW I would get a 4-day PHP (I think they have 4-day plus passes). If not, got for a 5-day PHP.

Have fun. :D

Seeing that you are form Virginia and not knowing where specifically if you are going to be driving down I would think that you might want to spend the afternoon at AKL just relaxing after a long drive and checking out the resort. We did this last year and were glad we had instead of going on the commando mode from the time we arrived. Boma or Jiko makes a great place for your first nights dinner and then you are refreshed and ready for your busy day at the parks next day.
I see that you moved your day of rest and I agree with the others that it was probably a good idea.
Enjoy the lodge it is wonderful!!!

If I were you , I would not waste a ticket on a half day. The day you arrive, if you need Disney action (which you will) I would plan a character dinner, resort hop- go to WL or Poly in the evening and see the Electrical Water Pageant. You could go to FW and do the movie/campfire/water parade thing- all these things are free. Resort hopping is fun- but might not be for little ones. You could also make ressies for dessert in the California Grill at the time the fireworks would be going off over the castle and watch those. How about a ride on the monorail around the parks? You don't have to get off- but you still get thath Disney BUZZ! ANd don't forget to visit the pool at your resort the first day. Oh- I forgot! DTD is really fun to walk around to soak in some of that Disney feeling. DQ is there too- and LOTS of fun shopping and stores! (Can you tell it's been over a year and a half since I've been down there!?!?!?) Oh- one more thing- I can't believe I forgot it!!!! Go to the Boardwalk- lots of fun stuff htere in the evenings!

Now, I have a question for you- I can't for the life of me figure out what BB is! Please- tell me before I go AWOL!

BB = Blizzard Beach ;)

I always try to have a day to go to the Kennedy Space Center. I'm not sure what the mood would be around there in light of the recent accident but it is very well put together. It wouldn't supprise me at all that Imagineers had something to do with the current set up. One price pays for all. Tours, I-max, etc. You have to experience standing under an actual Saturn Rocket to appreciate the vastness of it. It only takes about an hour from Orlando and is well worth the visit.

One of our favorite things to do is to go to Downtown Disney for a bit and to take the boat ride from Downtown Disney to Port Orleans French Quarter. I love the atmosphere of this resort and love to walk around the pool area and sit and have a drink poolside!

Another fun thing you might consider is to go to one of the monorail resorts marina or Ft. Wilderness marina and rent a water sprite or small boat and zip around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon! What a blast!!!
