Free cups of water

We've often gotten free cups of water at quick service locations throughout the parks. A friend is asking me if they'll fill your refillable mug with water? I didn't have an answer because we never tried - can you help me out on that one?

TIA

No they won't fill your mug.
They will give you a cup of icewater.
You can ask for a small or large cup.

You can always just ask for a cup of water and then put it in you mug yourself. I've done that.

I believe for sanitary/health reasons they can't fill your own mug. I use the water fountain to refill mine.

Yep, for health/food inspection reasons they can't take anything back that's been with a customer, but they will give you as many cups of ice water as you want. Places like the Electric Umbrella in Epcot that have access to the fountain drinks you can do yourself. Otherwise you have to ask for it.

Yep, what they said. I ended up paying for bottles last time though because this Midwestern girl could not do Florida tap water. This time I'm going to plan better and have bottled water shipped to the hotel.

I suggest checking out a product called the "eco vessel". We use it on our trips, keeps your water super cool and it has a really good filter.

Florida tap water sucks....but it beats the hell out of being dehydrated lol.

I've heard some people claim the quick service locations have filters. I have no idea if that's true, but we used the free quick service water in every park last summer, and the only one that had a noticeable taste was somewhere in Magic Kingdom. I want to say it was near Adventureland, but I'm not certain.

I wouldn't be surprised if it fluctuates as to how much or little the water is affected. You are correct though. Staying hydrated is a big key to park enjoyment.

Our last couple trips, we've brought Brita water bottles. We would ask for cups of ice water and fill the bottles up with that. We never noticed a bad taste. And if we were really thirsty, we would just drink it straight from the cups and either there wasn't a flavor, or we were too thirsty to notice or care - or both. We also filled them up at the food court at the hotel.

We grabbed it somewhere near Haunted Mansion from a restaurant and I couldn't even make myself choke it down it was so bad. I learned from that experience that we need to bring bottled water or maybe get a filter!

Tolerances will no doubt vary as well. It could have been in Liberty Square. It was definitely a left side of park day. I'm not sure if it's a consistent thing, but, like I said, I wouldn't be surprised if the off flavor comes and goes.

I'm not a fan of the free Disney water. I'd rather spend a few bucks for the good tasting stuff in a bottle.

We just get water in bottles delivered to our resort via Garden Grocer (though will use Safeway this year, as prices are better). The water bottles aren't free like water in cups from QS is, but they're not expensive at all either. We also like to have water on hand when we need it vs going to a snack or QS counter to ask for a cup...and we also like the consistent taste of the bottle water. When we leave for the day, those of us carrying backpacks just throw a couple of them in, and we're set for park time. It's something to consider.

At Creature Comforts (Starbucks) in Animal Kingdom, and at the Tune In Lounge at Hollywood Studios, they have Ice water dispensers where you can fill up cups or bottles. There may be more places, but these were the only two we came across. We thought since one Starbucks location did this, that they all would, but we didn't see one at the Starbucks on Main St. It would be wonderful if all the quick service places offered these. No lines.. no bothering employees... just a nice convenience.

No. It's due to health codes.Plus the cups are prefilled to be handed out quickly.
They can always pour the water from the bup into their refillable mug themselves though.

We brig the small packets of lemonade or ice tea to mix into our cups of free ice water. Helps with the taste.
