Ram Trucks is offering a free country music CD to anyone who writes a letter to a US soldier and drops it off at the dealer. Click HERE for details.

My daughter loves country music and is already writing her letter! She's hoping to find a new pen pal. :thumbsup2

That is wonderful! Service men/women love to get things from back "home".

Please try and lower your DDs expectations about a pen pal. We send packages (Girl Scout cookies, sports equipment, toiletries) or cards/letters about once a month to soldiers overseas. Sometimes we get a note (or an email), but more often we don't. IT IS STILL A REALLY GOOD THING TO DO! Just don't be disappointed if you don't hear back. So many of these service people are just kids. Do you remember procrastinating when you were a teenager/20 something and had to write a letter or thank you note? :rotfl: I certainly do.

Again, I don't mean to dissuade anyone from writing to a service person. I truly believe we should ALL support our soldiers (even if you don't support the war). I just don't want your DD to be sad if no one writes back to her.

Peace,

Sandy

Not only this, but they have very little down time. Last deployment my
husband worked 12-14 hours a day (sometimes more), 7 days a week. Also, depending on location, mailing items isn't always the easiest. Regardless of a return response, the letters, cards and care packages are very much appreciated! :goodvibes

Ditto. I haven't heard from my husband in a week at this point, and I think he's emailed his parents maybe once..and he's been gone 4 months already. I definitely wouldn't count on any contact, so if you do get it, it will be a nice surprise. That is sweet of your daughter to write a letter though, it really does help boost morale over there.

Thanks for the advice about lowering DDs expectations. She loves to write letters and will be fine if she doesn't get one back. She's mostly excited about getting the CD--it really is a great promotion!
