DH and I went to undergrad there in the late 80's. It's a really nice small town. Lots of wineries in the area. If you're looking for big city, this is not the place to go, but if you like a quaint small town, you'll like it.
If you go, I can recommend a fantastic restaurant that doesn't look like anything special called Roccos. The food is wonderful. The White Inn is a very fancy, formal Victorian restaurant, a bit pricey. For a casual lunch, the Hook and Ladder Deli is great for all homemade foods and delicious desserts. Also, the Upper Crust on Main Street has great lunches.
I bet your dd is playing against my former babysitter who lives across the street from me. She's a fourth year soccer player at Fredonia named Erin.
Lake Erie is not far at all, great sunsets.
I play in an orchestra housed at the college (WNY Chamber Orchestra) so I'm in town quite a bit.
Monkeyboy- we call it Ferrrrrrdonia.
