Monday 27th August Its a Bank Holiday, of Course its Raining!
It really shouldnt have come as any surprise when I opened the curtains this morning to torrential rain. After all, it was Bank Holiday Monday of course it was raining.
The boys were both still asleep so, having made up my mind that we were not going to be braving Animal Kingdom in this weather, I decided to leave them to it. I sat reading for a while, then made a half-hearted attempt to start sorting some of our dirty washing and stuff to pack. Luckily, Gary woke up then, quickly followed by Daniel who announced he was starving. We had a quick chat about what to do and decided we would go out for breakfast, pop into Walmart to buy me some sensible shoes (I only had Crocs sandals, which werent very practical in the rain) and then head to Disney Quest.
After quick showers, we were dressed and ready to go. No need for sun cream today! Before too long, we were happily ensconced at a booth in IHOP.
We ordered a load of different items, all to share. Bacon, eggs and hash browns, plus pancakes and French toast. It was all very tasty but just not hot enough.
Eggs Over Easy

Scrambled Eggs

Pancakes with apple

French toast

I cant find my receipts for the last few days of the trip so have no idea how much this cost but I remember thinking it was quite a lot of money for breakfast. We did have a lot of food though.
Next stop was Walmart, where I bought a cheap pair of trainers, some trainer socks and an umbrella I cannot believe I bought an umbrella on holiday in Florida. It was only $5 and its not like I dont get to use it a lot at home
By now, the morning was marching on. It was still raining, although admittedly not as heavily, and so we drove to Downtown Disney and parked up at West Side. Unsurprisingly, Disney Quest was absolutely heaving. Clearly, everybody had woken up this morning and thought the same thing. I wasnt overly happy as I cant bear places like this when theyre busy, with everybody pushing and shoving. Still, we were here now. As we went through the turnstiles, the CM warned us that they were expecting to be at capacity fairly soon and that, if we left, we might not be able to re-enter later. Sigh.
We had really enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean the other day so headed there first.
Battle for Buccaneer Gold

The line was (of course) massive so Daniel went off to play on some of the games while Gary and I waited in line. After about 20 minutes, Daniel returned and we told him he would need to wait with us now. He was not best pleased but I basically told him, in no uncertain terms, that I was not here to wait in line for him all day, so he could just go off and enjoy himself.
We probably waited at least another 20 minutes, then it was our turn. We were in a group with a mother and daughter who had absolutely no idea what they were doing. It was very funny.
After POTC, we decided to go up to the arcade level and play some of the games there. Daniel took a shine to one of the games where you have to throw balls and score points depending which holes they fall into (I forget what its called).
In his element

He was quite happy so Gary and I went in search of some retro games namely Millipede and Galaxian!
This takes me back

We were beginning to get thirsty and so decided to brave the line for refreshments. It was absolutely horrendous took us 40 minutes to get served. After waiting all that time, there was no way I was just ordering a couple of diet cokes so I got a chicken nugget meal as well. Of course there was nowhere to sit either. Sigh. We eventually grabbed a table that just had one seat at it and took turns to sit down lmao
After a quick bite to eat and a drink, Daniel returned to his beloved ball game and Gary and I went to commandeer Galaxian again. It didnt take long before a whining little kid decided that, despite the numerous arcade games around with nobody playing them, he wanted to play the one we were on. So we went to find Daniel. Gary joined him in the fun of throwing balls into holes for a while.
And then we (well, I) decided wed had enough of the crowds and it was time to go. We said goodbye to Disney Quest and sure enough, there were signs outside saying they were at capacity and entry was not possible.
We wanted to have a look around the shops so wandered up to Market Place. As we were still quite thirsty, we bought a Raspberry Lemonade Slush on the way.
Raspberry Slushy
It wasnt quite as nice as the one at Hollywood Studios sweeter and not quite as tart.
Daniel had his picture taken with Buzz outside Once Upon a Toy. We wondered afterwards whether we had a similar picture at home that we could compare. Turns out we did look how much my boy has grown since his first trip.

Daniel and Buzz August 2012

After a look around the remaining shops and a few more photo opportunities, we decided to head back to the resort. But not before buying a couple of little treats at Goofys (which we ate later that night).
Mickey Cake Pop

Mint Mickey Ears Brownie

Back at the Beach Club, we took some time to browse the resort shop and ended up buying a DVC throw for our bed and a lovely David E Doss print of the Beach Club. Daniel also made a couple of purchases.
Star Wars Vinylmations

Apologies for cutting off Darths hand but I had to edit out my semi-naked DH from the side of the photo
We chilled out in the room for a while, then Daniel asked if we could do another Perry mission. Since the rain had stopped, we thought we ought to make the most of it so, after a quick shower and change, we were off to Epcot.
Agent P and Agent D

While Daniel solved crime&

Mum and Dad drank&

It was a great solution for all involved.
Believe it or not, we had all worked up a bit of an appetite by the time we got halfway around World Showcase so we backtracked a bit to Liberty Inn.
Pulled Pork Sandwich

Chilli Dog

Gary had been keen to try a chilli dog so he got that and Daniel had a pulled pork sandwich. I wasnt really sure what I wanted so I opted to wait until I saw something that took my fancy. Daniel wanted a chocolate and caramel covered strawberry from Karamel Kuchen so I offered to walk down and get it while they were eating, so he could have it for dessert. When I got back, they were finished eating and waiting outside so I gave them the strawberries while I popped to the ladies room. By the time I got back, they had wolfed down the strawberries without even taking a picture. I was not happy.
Wandering on through World Showcase, we got to China and I decided I would give the orange chicken a try. The girls had previously had this back in 2006 (I think) but I was less adventurous then and wouldnt try it. Since I quite like a lot of Chinese food now, I decided to give it a go. Yes, people, orange chicken is my idea of adventurous.
Orange Chicken

The chicken was really nice but the rice was claggy and cold. I didnt eat any of it. Gary helped me out with the chicken as, once Id got it, I decided I wasnt actually all that hungry after all.
House of Good Fortune

Detailed architecture

It had ended up being quite a pleasant evening and we were really enjoying just strolling around World Showcase, taking pictures and savouring the atmosphere. It was fairly quiet, probably due to the weather, but it was starting to turn a little cold and wed already decided we probably wouldnt stay for Illuminations.
Mexico

For some reason, we hadnt been inside the Mexico pavilion for years so we had a good wander round. Id forgotten how great the theming is in here.
Starry, starry night

When we came out, it had turned pretty cold and we were all flagging so we headed back to the room. We watched television for a while and started packing. We were in bed and asleep by 10.30 we certainly know how to live the high life.
