DD1 Sian, 13 Doesnt want a costume cos shes got a great new skirt she wants to wear
DD2 Rea, 12 Gutted because she cant find a princess dress to fit her
So, we were on our way back to the Magic Kingdom for Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party (herein after referred to as MNSSHP to save my poor typing fingers, all 2 of them
)
We had an ADR at the Plaza Restaurant at 4:40 so headed there on arrival. We were given wrist bands to wear as we entered the park and were handed trick or treat bags and maps. We walked up Main Street and checked in for our ADR. Five minutes later, we were called in and seated. We ordered diet cokes all round it was really very hot this evening and looked at the menus. The girls and I ordered the Chicken sandwich and DH opted for the burger. The food came quickly, together with refills on our soft drinks. I knew Lynn (Loadsapixiedust) and family had an ADR here too and we had arranged to meet here but there was no sign of them. The girls were really disappointed and I tried to explain that they may have been held up or their plans may have changed, but secretly I was thinking that, having met us a few days ago, they had wisely decided to avoid us.
Entrees eaten and plates cleared, we debated over dessert. Last year, I had enjoyed a lovely apple pie a la mode here but it was no longer on the menu. I asked the waitress and she pointed out there was an apple charlotte available instead. I really didnt fancy it but ordered it anyway. The girls chose Mickeylodeons (chocolate ice-cream for Rea and sherbet (sorbet) for Sian). DH decided not to bother with pudding. All of a sudden Sian pointed at the window. We all turned to look and there were Lynn, Stuart and Sammi peering in at us and waving. I popped outside and explained we had just ordered dessert and Lynn said it wasnt a problem and theyd just have a seat outside and wait, which was really good of her.
Having demolished our desserts, we paid the check ($85 inc tip) and left to join the others. We sat for a while and chatted, trying to decide on a plan of action. Lynn, Stuart, Sammi and Ben looked great in their outfits and I started to wish wed made more of an effort with costumes.
We decided to take a slow wander round the park and set off for Tomorrowland, stopping to have a picture taken in front of the castle. We were given special MNSSHP Photopasses and told there would be a discount on any pictures purchased.
In Tomorrowland, we decided to ride Buzz. My 2 girls had a minor disagreement over who would get to ride with Sammi but I soon solved that problem by jumping into a car with her while the girls were busy arguing lol. Knowing where the ride camera was, we gave a little wave and posed (as you do!). I wish, to this day, that Id bought the picture as it was excellent.
On to Space Mountain, where the girls rode while the adults and Ben waited outside.
Something which Lynn forgot to mention in her report, I noticed, was Stitchs Dance Spectacular (or something like that). We all had a great time boogying on down, except for 2 party poopers whose names I wont mention, STUART and GARY!!!
Then it was on to the candy trail, where we also spotted the Queen of Hearts. We had our pictures taken with her, she was hilarious, really in character. A small girl rushed up to give her a hug. Afterwards, the Queen just brushed her dress off as if it had a nasty stain on it classic!
I forgot to mention in Part 1 that Sian had lost her autograph book earlier in the day. Despite going back to where shed left it and asking at Lost and Found, it seemed it was lost forever. However, on the second trip back to L & F, a lovely CM (unfortunately, Sian didnt get her name) gave her a voucher for a free autograph book gotta love that Disney magic.
More candy was to follow as Lynn has mentioned in her report, the presence of her Birthday buttons did seem to be getting her somewhat favourable treatment. At one particular stop, we passed through and got the normal 2 to 3 pieces of candy. When Lynn passed, however, the CM said Well, Happy Birthday Lynn and piled a couple of massive handfuls into her bag.
From Tomorrowland, we progressed on to Mickeys Toon Town Fair. The way that MK was decorated was just fantastic, with loads of red, green and purple lighting everywhere. We had another Photo Pass picture, then realised we werent sure which Pass was which so we popped into the photo place in Toon Town and got the CM to mark the passes for us. This done, we did more candy trails and then walked through into Fantasyland. We realised it was getting close to 9 oclock so thought wed go and stake out a spot for Hallowishes. When we got round near the castle, I thought we would have difficulty finding a spot. I couldnt have been more wrong. We had a great spot, sitting right in front of the castle in fact, I couldnt believe how non-busy it was. Hallowishes was amazing, brilliant, fabulous and more. The music and choreography of the fireworks was astounding and its certainly something I wont forget in a hurry.
We head for Frontierland after the fireworks are over and ride Big Thunder Mountain, where we indulge in a little screaming contest. I think Lynn won easily shame I was sitting next to her, my left ear will never be the same again
After this, we headed over to try and find a spot to watch the parade. Again, I was surprised at how easily we found a spot literally minutes before it was due to begin. We had a great view of the Headless Horseman as he came riding by and the parade itself was great another first for us as wed never seen a Disney parade before either. We swooned as the Pirates float went past, with Captain Jack standing atop looking extremely gorgeous.
Parade over, we headed to Splash Mountain where Lynn and the girls went off for a soaking, while Gary, Stuart, Ben and I sat and ate loads of candy.
Sadly, it was nearing midnight and time to leave. Imagine my delight when we ran into a certain Captain Jack on the way out. Obviously, we had to have a picture the others wanted to be in it too but I bravely fought them off.
Only joking, they got one too.
For some reason, Jack wouldnt sign the autograph books I would be interested to find out why hes not allowed to sign, if anyone out there knows. A certain member of the party suggested that he may like to give us a phone number instead though.
We strolled slowly down Main Street, admiring the lights and projections of Mickey bats, witches and ghosts flying along the walls of the Main Street buildings. It really had been the most fantastic night. Ben was really quite tired now, as were the rest of us, but he still managed to pose for one last photo.
We said our goodbyes to Lynn, Stuart, Sammi and Ben as they were catching the All Star Music bus (I think), as their room was at that end of ASMo (if that makes sense). Thank you so much to the four of you for making it a thoroughly enjoyable night. We had a great time and, if youre still up for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs next year
Our bus arrived and we hopped on. We were back in our room within half an hour and straight to sleep.
Today's budget - $250
Total spend today - $223.51
Under budget - $26.49 (2 meals in the parks and STILL under budget)
