Day 10 Lets Get Together Wednesday 18th October
Cast:
Me Joh, 33 Hatching a plan
DH Gary, 39 Also hatching a plan
DD1 Sian, 13 Absolutely no idea that Mum and Gary are hatching a plan
DD2 Rea, 12 Ditto!
I was first up this morning (again) after a really good nights sleep. I wandered over to the food court to get a tea for DH (not as easy as it seemed, I ended up having to ask someone how to go about it) and some pastries for brekkie.
Back at the room, our bill was hanging on the door and I entered to find everyone still asleep. I decided to take advantage of the opportunity to have a nice, long shower, then started packing our overnight bags. The others slowly came round, demolished the pastries and showered and dressed ready for our departure.
Outside ASMo, we bid a fond farewell (I would definitely stay here again) and caught the bus to Blizzard Beach, where we had arranged to meet Sean, Sue and family. We were let in just before 10 and went to get a locker. We barely managed to cram our 2 overnight bags in and ended up taking a lot of stuff with us to the spot where wed arranged to meet. There was no sign of Sean and Sue so we headed off to Summit Plummet. The steps to the top nearly killed me and then, when we got to the top, Im afraid I chickened out. DH and DD1 still went on, though, so DD2 and I decided to try Teamboat Springs, which was excellent. We met up with the other 2 at the bottom and decided to try some of the other rides. A little while later, we returned to our spot. We were just debating whether to wander round and have a look for Sean and Sue when they turned up. They had been sitting just round the corner from us all the time. We gathered our belongings and went to join them, in a nice shady spot. It was turning into a really hot day. The kids went off together and the adults sat and chatted for a while. I was telling Sue how much wed enjoyed MNSSHP the previous night and how I wished we could go again. Sue then said we should go the next night, with them. We dropped some subtle hints to DH and let him mull the idea over. The kids returned and we all had some lunch and drinks, then went for a tour round Cross Country Creek.
Back at our shady spot, the kids went off again and we chatted some more. The subject of MNSSHP came up again and DH decided it was a great idea so I went off to see if I could buy tickets anywhere. Thanks must go here to the kind CM on the gate, who let me leave the park and come back in without my ticket so I could buy the tickets. And the deed was done. We decided to keep it a secret from the kids and surprise them the next day.
Before we knew it, the afternoon had slipped away and it was time to leave. We did have a bit of a panic when we realised the kids had been temporarily misplaced but we eventually found them at the Ski Patrol Training Camp, where Katie was being a bit of a daredevil.
We packed up our things and headed for the exit, where we just had time for a group photo.
The kids had also had some pictures taken earlier in the day.
We said our goodbyes, although not for long as we were meeting up later that evening for dinner at Bahama Breeze.
Our shuttle bus turned up to take us back to the hotel, where we showered and changed then watched telly for a bit.
We caught the I-ride trolley up to Bahama Breeze just before 8, to find Sue and Sean were already there. Unfortunately, Joan hadnt been feeling well so had decided to stay back at the villa to conserve her energy for MNSSHP the next night.
We requested a table for 9 and were told wed have about 30-45 minutes wait. Getting some drinks from the bar, we stood and nattered for a while. By 9, we still hadnt been seated and the troops were getting restless. We enquired again about the table and were told they were just waiting for another party to leave who, apparently, were dithering somewhat. We did consider sending the kids in to hang around their table but decided against it so did the next best thing and went to wait inside.
Eventually, we were seated and the kids were given colouring sheets and crayons. Im afraid I dont remember what everyone ordered but I know Sean and I both had the strip steak. DH wanted the ribs but they didnt have any so he opted for the Jamaican grilled chicken, and Sue had a seafood dish (think it was lobster and shrimp pasta?). Most of the kids had chicken strips but Ben ordered pizza and fries.
The food, when it arrived, was absolutely delicious and the portions were huge.
Obviously, it would have been rude not to have dessert. Sue and DH went for the Dulce de Leche Cheesecake, while Sean and I chose Joses Chocolate Indulgence. Again, they were lovely the cheesecake was absolutely delicious and I wished Id chosen that instead but DH wouldnt swap with me.
Our share of the check came to a very reasonable $90 inc tip. All in all, it had been an extremely enjoyable evening and a lovely meal. We would definitely return, although perhaps we would arrive a bit earlier as it does get extremely busy.
Sean kindly offered to give us a lift back to the hotel while Sue, Kirsty and Ben waited back at Bahama Breeze. We said goodnight, having earlier arranged to meet them at MK the following evening.
Back at the hotel, we decided we would have a quiet day the next day and told the girls we might go to one of the Disney parks for the evening. The girls reckoned they knew we had a surprise planned so we tried to throw them off the scent by leaving coupons lying around for various dinner shows. Eventually, we retired to bed having had yet another lovely day.
Today's budget - $250
Total spend today - $305.66 (including the MNSSHP tickets)
