DH and I are leaving in one-week and I am freaking out!! I thought I had all this time and it seems to have disappeared. Sister is coming down to watch the three kids and making sure everything is covered (school schedules, activity schedules, medical information, which friends can come over and which kids cannot come within 100 ft. of the property, etc.) is worse than when the five of us went down to WDW for two-weeks last April!! I picked up extra hours at work for money (I waitress). We had car work done so our budget have declined sharply and I am feeling so overstressed right now that I believe I am starting to wig out. :guilty: I guess I needed to rant a little bit because DH is sweet but other than carrying the luggage to the car he doesn't quite get where I'm coming from :sunny:

Deep breath (like you haven't thought of that)

Pre-trip stress is common. You put all this planning and thought into something and then the "can go wrongs" start creeping up. Try to remember that there is no sense worrying about something that "might" happen. You can't do anything about it until it does happen. Have a great trip!

Writing a list of things to do always helps me. It makes things seem more managable and I feel better that I won't forget anything.

Have a good trip!

Sounds like you need your vacation. Here is pixie dust ***** to make sure it happens quickly and goes great for you!

Oh, I felt just like you last week before we left and dh was relaxed as could be and couldn't understand why I was so stressed out. But as soon as the plane took off I was fine! Making a checklist is a great idea. You'll have a great time!

It's okay to wig. It's understandable. This is a lot of money and responsibility. But my theory has always been simple. Once you walk in the door, let the Mouse do the work...

What you are feeling is normal. You're probably feeling a little guilty about leaving the kids but just think of it this way: when you go and enjoy yourself, you'll come back recharged and ready to go. It's okay for mom and dad to treat themselves. It sounds as if you've planned for the children to be well taken care of. The money thing is something almost everyone who goes to Disney and isn't a millionare worries about!

I saw that you mentioned that you had medical info covered for your sister. If you haven't already, I suggest you contact a notary and have him/her write a medical power of attorney to your sister for each child. This will enable the sister to step in and make emergency medical decisions on you and your husband's behalf until you get there.

We did this for our children when they were small and when I babysat my cousin's baby we had one for her.

We absolutely never want to think about having to use them but it's better to be prepared.

Yep, I second that medical power of attorney. We only left our darling daughter ONCE and she got hit in the nose with a soccer ball...and the friends whose house she was staying overnight with, couldn't get a doc to examine her without one.

So, just as a procaution..it makes life oh so much easier.

As to the stress wigging...it seems that we women do it an awful lot and our men never seem to understand the reasons behind it...unless you are oh so lucky and have one who just gives you a big hug and says: It's ok.

So wig away...it's just a fact of our nature methinks.

Once you hit the Kingdom, just let the kid out and have fun. Yep your kids may guilt you for leaving them (I know I would!!!!!) but they have to learn that mom and dad need their special time too.

Have fun!
