After the late night, there is little interest on getting out of bed this morning, well except for Val, who has the daily hair routine with the industrial hair dryer but to be fair every morning I would disappear to the food court for a coffee and newspaper and ok a cigarette sat by the pool, before getting the boys up.
Getting the boys awake is not as easy as it sounds we do manage to get Glenn awake and ready but sleeping beauty [Scott] is not so easy, well it is not only waking him he spends so much time in the bathroom and also staring into the mirror, he is worst than a woman lol
Eventually we are ready to leave, but we are having to wait at the car for Scott, eventually he now appears, but he seems to have gelled bird nest to his head, why make us wait so long at the car to come down with your hair sticking up in the air with Gel and then as he gets to the car he puts a baseball cap on? I did ask him; apparently because I am old I have no style.
We had decided to go to MGM, actually arrived at 10.30am, the crowds are not too bad this morning and we enjoy a stroll through the shops, I think the décor at the entrance is great, it is always something I look forward to seeing again. We then stroll down to RNR, the three of us ride it [yes Glenn is outside], the queue is only twenty minutes so we just have to do this ride, it does not matter that I have ridden this over 50 times before, the take off always makes me gasp, it is so good!!
Glenn is waiting for us in the RNR shop, after having a brief stop here, I heard the dreaded words from Scott Dad time for Tower of Terror, now this is not my favourite ride as you can guess but as Val would rather nail her feet to the ground than do this ride, I feel I have to do it so Scott is not on his own, as luck would have it every stage is a straight walk into, so within a few minutes I am sat on this ride with my eyes closed, yes I know what you are all thinking. It was not too bad to be honest, but I do pretend I do not hear let us do this again, I did explain that his mum would be waiting etc and as a caring husband we all came on holiday together and should try and spend as much time together, obviously if it was RNR I would have said Val who? Lets go
We all meet up at the Planet Hollywood shop and walked to the great movie ride, again on in minutes, got the gangster theme as we do for 99% of our trip. After GMR we walk down to my favourite shop, the coffee one on the corner that has CDS, books and obviously coffee, I could spend hours in here, but am eventually dragged out.
I chose Muppets next, this is still so funny, always enjoy it, then it was time for the back lot tour, although in my mind it was time to eat!! It was nice to sit and rest on the ride, it was quite interesting as there appeared to be a few more new things to see, but that could be my memory going lol
Now it was time to eat, we always go to the fast food place near Star Tours, then it was suggested [ I will not tell you who said this, but It was not Scott, Glenn or myself] why dont we ride Star Tours before we eat, great idea, Scott nearly collapses in a heap as he will not eat for 10 minutes, and I am thinking who is this women, but off we go into the British Airways simulator anyway, I have been on many plane rides in turbulence like this, but this ride is good.
Time to eat, at last, ok I swallowed the food whole, Val did say to me hungry then?
After eating we had a slow walk around before heading out to the stunt show, this is the first time we have seen it, what a great show, Glenn really enjoyed it and would always request we saw it again every time we visited MGM, it just amused me Val always sees people she knows and sat in front of us was someone she knew from the local supermarket back in the UK!
At this point we decide it is time to get back to the all-stars and chill by the pool, well not Val as there were some inches left in the MGM shops that she had not visited yet, so we ambled out stopping to sit [I mean wait outside shops]
We drove back and the boys went for a swim while Val and I sat with a drink and a book, by the pool, again we put some washing on in the laundry, after an hour in the pool the boys decided it was time to come and relieve us of some money for the arcade and food court, what hungry again, no ice cream chocolates and sweets!
I joined the boys in the arcade after they had eaten and played air hockey and basketball with them, Glenn started his collection of arcade tickets, I told him to save them all and then in the last few days he will have enough to get a bigger prize but as usual he ignored me and got sweets and some plastic toys, but after this he did save all his tickets and on the last day managed to afford a chess set and some other items that he has kept as souvenirs of our vacation.
Tonight we decided to eat in the food court and then go to downtown Disney, I tried a meatball sub, the boys had a burger and Val had some veggie alternative burger! We then drove to DTD [well after I had to change my t-shirt as I managed to drop the meatball sub down it, it was so packed the first bite I took resulted in the contents jumping out the sub!!] I could not believe how many spaces there was available for parking as in past years I have had to drive around for ages to find a space, it was now 8.30pm within 20 minutes I did notice parking was at a premium in that area when I had to go to the car to drop something off..
The first shop we visited was Team Mickeys which in hindsight was a mistake as once the boys stopped throwing the balls to each other ok I tried to juggle a football as well and smacked it straight into someone, they found the play-station games and large screen which had Tiger Woods Golf and John Madden grid iron, which meant they were now cast in concrete and would not move!! Val went off to World of Disney as she saw it as a chance to escape, I did offer to go with her but apparently my company was not required I stayed with the boys and eventually managed to get them away from the games, we then met Val but she quickly despatched the three of us to the Westside and Virgin while she stayed in the WOD. I got a coffee then walked over with Scott and Glenn, yes we did manage to get lost but eventually found Virgin, and I mean how you could we not find it? I was asked to write that they knew where it was but I thought they were wrong and made them walk for 20 minutes longer while I got them lost.
When we got there I told Glenn to stay with me while Scott had a look around, but within 30 seconds they had both disappeared, I spent ages walking around trying to find Glenn then used careful deduction by trying to remember from previous visits where he would go, success, he is stood on the far side with headphones on listening to the Kaiser chiefs cd, he always stands in the same area and listens to the music!
We returned to meet Val and we were late but no need to worry she was still trapped in the WOD, I made the mistake of asking what on earth she had brought, apparently it was all second hand and I did not have to worry about the cost and I quote Disney owned them first, ok lesson learnt until next time, the moral is dont ask your wife any questions!!
We got back to the all-stars and I managed to get a couple of beers before closing time lol, well it was after time but they served me, when I got back to the room and fought my way in over the new plastic bags, everyone was in bed recharging their batteries for tomorrows instalment of how can I wind my dad up.
