Day 3: Ewoks, Muppets, and Bears (oh my!)

Monday we decided to head to Disney MGM Studios for the day. Allen really wanted to see Playhouse Disney Live to see Bear in the Big Blue House and all the other critters, so Mom, John, Mary and the kids did that while Joe, Dad and I hit Rockin’ Roller Coaster. The wait was about 5 minutes, so Joe and I rode it twice before heading back to meet up with the group. By the time the live show was done, it was time for lunch at a food court before heading to Star Tours, a Star Wars themed ride. Mary, Mom and the kids sat that one out. We then headed over to the Muppets 3-D Movie.

After that we spent some time at the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids playground. Allen took his energy out climbing on things while the adults rested in the shade. Then Mom and Dad treated the kids to ice cream while John, Mary, Joe and I went on the roller coaster again and then the Tower of Terror. By that time we were all tired out, so we went back to the hotel for naps.

That evening, we went to Downtown Disney. We hung out at DD and fed the kids dinner, then Mom and Dad took them home to bed while the rest of us checked out Pleasure Island, spending most of the time at 8 Trax. That rounded off day three.

Day Four: A lazy day at the water park.

After breakfast in the room, we headed out to Typhoon Lagoon until about 1. The kids splashed in the little wade pool/playground while the rest of of body surfed and used the big slides. Mom had fun in the lazy river. Then back to the hotel for lunch and more naps, then on to MK for the Electric Light Parade and more fireworks to end the day.

Day Five: An every man for himself day.

Joe and I went to Universal Islands of Adventure for the day to get in some of the really big roller coasters, while John, Mary and the kids went to MK for rides and Edward’s first hair cut at the barber shop on Main Street, and Mom and Dad went to Disney’s time share presentation. Let’s start with Universal.

We took Mears from the Lodge to IOA. The bus got lost so they sent a town car ;) Once there, the lines were so short we finished three major rides in less than an hour, Hulk, Ice Dragon and Fire Dragon. We had some lunch (tip, eat at the pizza place by Jurasic Park and get the pizza salad combo. Joe had the salad and I had the pizza and we split the coke. The 2 of us ate for $10!), Did the JP water ride, re-rode Hulk and did Spiderman 3-D, then headed home. We got back by 2 PM.

Meanwhile John, Mary, and the kids went to MK for some re-rides and to get Edward’s first hair cut. Main Street has a barber shop and for $12, Edward got his hair cut, his locks put in a little envelope with “pixie dust”, and Mickey Mouse hat with “First Hair Cut” embroidered on the back, and a certificate for “bravery in facing shears and clippers”.

Mom and Dad were treated to lunch at Epcot for sitting through the hour long Disney time-share presentation. I won’t go into details here, but contact me for more info if you’re interested. Although they came close to actually purchasing one, my father’s poor health made them decide they just wouldn’t use it often enough to make it worth while. They did say it was an excellent program and a great value for those who plan to go to Disney every 1 to 2 years. This coming from the two most frugal people you’ll ever meet, and who have been to many a time share pitch!

After we met up at the hotel, it was just about time for dinner, which we had at the lobby restaurant again. Joe and I went to the movies at Downtown Disney while everyone else stayed in to rest and watch a little TV.
