I am waiting to hear from my friend I am traveling with on what he wants to do. This just seems to be getting more ominous.

i am. i know nothing about hurricanes, being from ontario and all lol, so i am just trying to figure things out. I still can't tell if it will all be over by the time i arrive or in the middle. i'm waiting till further in the week to see what the predictions are then. I'm driving down so i can adjust my schedule quite a bit to arrive before hand, but i'd rather not adjust it to arrive any later than i am in the week (vacation time is set but i can utilize the weekend if i have to) we were planning on leaving sunday morning and driving thru arriving monday morning but if i have to i can leave friday evening. man, i would hate to live in florida were this is something that happens so often. I had no idea! i knew it was hurricane season, but i didn't realize how often they hit!

i'm going this weekend. i can switch vacation time. my mom cannot. this is her 1st cruise. 1st trip to disney. 1st air flight. this is really gonna stink for her.

we don't want to wait until next year to reschedule. we are flying in on friday which they don't expect to be bad but it's the cruise i'm worried about. i know that disney can change port but what a pain. plus i have spent the last week worrying about this.

oh well, i feel that i am lucky to be going on vacation at all so we will just deal with it.

hope everyone who decides to travel is safe and especially all the residents of florida.

As of right now, your original plans sound the best. If you move it up, you could arriving in Florida as it is hitting Florida. On Friday, they are expecting to give any evac announcements for Jacksonville if they are need. They normally do the announcement around 24 hour in advance (this is variable so anyother Floridians don't flame me.)

Called the resorts to check on policys and procedures but we are still on course to go. More concerned about our two sets of friends on the wonder and magic, than our own plans.

Also keep in mind if there are hurricane warnings posted which I am sure there will be airports may close too. Make sure to call the airlines before going especially if you're heading out on Friday or Saturday.

We're flying in to Orlando tomorrow afternoon for a 7night stay..
please let's all pray that Frances goes back out to sea..she is huge! The eye is so distinct and what I'm told about that ...it's not a good thing.

Nope, cancelled everything yesterday. :(

I'm supposed to be arriving Monday. We'll be coming from NY, connecting in Charlotte, NC, and arriving in Orlando... If any airports are "affected airports" for Monday according to USAir, we can reschedule our flight for up to 7 days after the original departure date... We're staying at POP doing the 5+2 Dream Maker Package... anyone know what Disney might do about having us push back our stay a day or two if we can't get down because of cancelled flights due to Frances? I'm hoping it wouldn't be a problem....

I'm just worried sick. This is the first vacation I've ever planned and I feel helpless right now as to what to do. I guess I can only wait and see...

I'm also worried for my best friend who's on a cruise right now... She's supposed to be coming back into port tomorrow and then spending Friday in Orlando before flying home on Saturday. It doesn't look promising for her getting home. I hope she's ok down there. :(

I hope everyone's ok down there... :(

I just cancelled the first part of our trip. We were going to stay in Daytona Beach for 4 days before heading to WDW on Wed morning...not sure if we should try to add Monday and/or Tuesday night onto our WL stay or just reschedule the whole trip. Extra time in Disney would be great, but we were all so looking forward to a long vacation and some beach time. I figured even if the hurricane didn't hit, we'd be stuck in our hotel room waiting out lots of rain and The Ocean Walk Resort said "today, we are doing cancellations with no penalties, but we can't guarantee what will happen the rest of the week"...so I said yes and almost cried when she read me the cancellation number, LOL. We're driving, so I'm grateful that I don't have to worry about airline reservations. I'm bummed, but if it doesn't miraculously turn out to sea, I just hope they can predict the path accurately so that everyone can stay safe!

I am driving my hubby crazy with this! I don't know what to do! The kids will be so disappointed if we don't get to go, or not on time. Our return date isn't flexible.... We are currently scheduled to arrive Sat morning- does anyone know when this is supposed to hit? I was thinking of moving up our flight to tomorrow night or Friday am, but I am hearing conflicting reports of when and how bad it will be.

Also, is it safe to go at all?

Sorry, freaking out a bit, we were all really looking forward to this trip- our first at the Poly Conceirge!

I postponed my trip 2 day until Tuesday. Was leaving Sunday. I spent a couple of hours this morning rearranging hotels, airlines, and rental cars.

We were scheduled to go on Saturday morning, I was able to change our flight without penalty to Friday morning at 7:40 AM. We're staying at the Contemporary, and when I called to add on Friday night to my reservation I was told that all of WDW resorts (including the Swan and Dolphin) were booked. According to the CRO CM, everyone from the East coast of FL is flocking to WDW. I'm booked at the Wyndham Palace for Friday night and have to switch on Saturday to Contemporary; I hope we'll be able to.

I'm starting to have second thoughts now about going at all, will flying in Friday morning put us ahead of the storm? Can WDW sustain this large a hurricane? Should I be worried about our safety?

Canceling. For us it was not too big a deal, but the kids are still disappointed.

We were just going down for the holiday weekend to use our pluses at the waterparks.

I will be releasing my unbelievably cheap rate at the Embassy and I'm sure they'll re-sell it to someone from the coast and make a good bit more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited to say that I just called and Embassy is not yet going to cancel my Net Direct Rate (though they twice offered to cancel it earlier this week already). I checked the website and that particular Embassy is not full ...yet... I guess there really is a method to their madness. Not going to cancel that sure buck until they have people lined up on the phone to take my spot. She said to call back on the date of arrival. Kind of odd. I could go down and hang at the hotel. If Frances turns my way (near Savannah) maybe we'll just do that. I just figure that the fine people in the Orlando area don't really need any extra tourists to worry about this weekend.

We are playing everything by ear right now and will make our decision tomorrow. I have talked to Disney, but we have not talked to Delta, yet to find out the deal....it's been busy all day..gee, I wonder why!! We are hopeing that it takes a turn before tomorrow...wishful thinking!!! :(

like I posted before, I'm second guessing myself; I am not going to decide however until around this time tomorrow; I know I can get my $ back for my hotel reservations, I'm not sure about the plane tix; either way, I'm not going to sweat it

I'm with you. We're doing the same.

That is great advice! Lets hope this thing takes a turn out to sea! Either way I think I am booking a trip in December just so I feel better!

I'm still going. Rescheduled my dates for sept 27th through oct. 4th. Disney was waving all the fees and so was the airline.

Joy
