Following the murder of 10 journalists and 2 policemen today in Paris, the city and the whole region has been put on maximum terror alert.

For people coming or leaving in the next few days be prepared for tighter security controls in the airports, train stations, the metro/RER network and in department stores and shopping centers in Paris.

Sad news, I don't know what is going on in the world with all the murders:sad2:

It' so sad and so terrible. And frightening.

Rest in peace.

This morning at 8.00 am an individual opened fire on a trainee policewoman and a municipal worker who were attending a traffic incident. The policewoman didn't survive.:sad1:

Today is a national day of mourning here in France and at midday I stood for a minute of silence that was requested throught the public and private institutions, schools, the public transports and to keep this on topic Disneyland Paris.

The attractions were stopped at 11.55 and at 12.00 everything stopped as this video coming from Disney Central Plaza shows

Due to the on going terrorist / hostage situation north-east of Paris, Charles de Gaulle Airport has been forced to adapt landing and take-off patterns in consideration of the situation.

Check with your airline if you are due to fly today the situation is changing by the minute.

No flights have been cancelled and the acess to CDG from either central Paris or DLP is still open. They have just shut down 2 runaways and rerouted the flights to the other side of the airport as the 2 suspects have a RPG and could theoretically take down a plane

My OH has just arrived at his workplace which is 15km away from Dammartin-en-Goële and can see the roadblocks.

As the suspects have declared that they want to die as martyrs and they have a hostage this could take a while :sad2:

We were there in the baby clothing shop on Main Street at the time of the minute's silence yesterday - very moving, especially in such a normally bustling noisy place.

We returned home later in the evening by TGV and there was no obvious extra security in the station (or in the parks) although I am sure much was going on we were not aware of.

Can only hope the situation ends safely for hostage and security forces as soon as possible.

Ok we now have a situation that is unique in France.

A person who is the suspect for the killing yesterday in Montrouge is armed with 2 kalashnikovs and is holding several hostages( women and children) in a Kacher/Kosher supermarket in the 20eme arrondissement of Paris - Porte de Vincennes.

It is not yet confirmed by the authorities but there could be 2 dead at this site.

This suspect is now known to be connected to the other two that are holding a person hostage in Dammartin.

They are also looking for the 2nd hostage takers girlfriend who is apparently on the run with him.

So if you are at DLP today the best thing you can do is stay there

This is unbelievable !

I hope and pray that everything will go out well.

Well there's movement right now in the first situation as there is flares, smoke and automatic firing going on - It looks like the assault has been given.

The Gign have started entering the building - I'm fearing for the hostage :sad1:

This is all we had on at work today it's totally unreal !
Like a movie all very sad.

Well it's all over - all hostage takers dead. 4 hostages dead in the supermarket and 4 people between life and death.

Infact in the first siege the hostage wasn't one, apparently he spent the day hiding in a box/behind some boxes and the 2 brothers had no idea that he was there. He informed the police throughout the day what was going on inside the building.

Hopefully that's the end of it.

Be aware of your surroundings when travelling and expect heightened security for a while.
