I thought as a Disney resort guest you could book a FP without a theme park tocket 30 days in advance? Is this not correct?

No, how would that benefit you? You need to get into the park to use FP

Nope. You can't book FP at all until you have linked a ticket.

And yes, some folks do want to wait and purchase tickets at the gate, or at their resort, when they arrive.

Disney resort guests book 60 days in advance, everybody else gets 30.

some people would prefer to just buy their tickets at the gate.
Because I have a 3 day ticket that I want to add another day too. I have used 2 days already of that. But, I guess I have to wait until I check in now and by then the Mine Train FP's will be gone. :(

If you used those days more than 2 weeks ago, you will not be able to add another day anyway.

Regardless, why not just link that ticket to your account now?

I'm not really up on how to upgrade tickets that have been linked, but I don't see any reason why you can't do that unless the ticket is too old to link to MDX.

could be an old ticket, or a non-expiring ticket.

Even non-expiring tickets cannot be upgraded more than 14 days after the first use.

Agree. :thumbsup2 The ticket has to be upgraded within 14 days of first use. If the OP used the first two days of the ticket more than 14 days ago, she won't be able to upgrade it now, and definitely wouldn't be able to upgrade it when she checks-in in 3 weeks.

so she might as well link that ticket now...or when the system comes back up anyway.

And without being incredibly sarcastic or obvious... Disney doesn't want you to. They want your money before you get here. They want you to "lock it in" with them before you get there. That's why there are incentives for people willing to buy tickets before they arrive.

Of course Disney doesn't want you to...but some people will still do it.

If they really wanted us forced into it they would close all the ticket booths at the parks and require everyone to purchase tickets before they get there, but they haven't tried that yet. You can still buy them when you get there...but you lose some perks you get for buying ahead. Just another business method.

I have an AP that expires right before a stay. That means there is no way for me to get FP+ at 60 days before that stay if I renew it, because the earliest I can renew the AP is 30 days before its expiration date. Unless I give up the idea of getting the renewal discount and just buy a new AP before the 60 days and use the voucher to link to MDX.

My choice is either forego the early FP or give up the renewal discount, Disney probably anticipated some would have this issue.

Yes, she should. And the system is back up.

Of course Disney would prefer to have everyone locked in beforehand, but that doesn't mean that it works with everyone's plans.

This is not entirely accurate. I have renewed my entire familiy's passes over the last year, at 60 days out. It used to be 30 days, but I think with this whole FP+ thing, they changed it. In October of 2013 and December of 2013, I was able to renew at 60 days.

Obviously. That's why my response was somewhat sarcastic. ;) I know it doesn't work with everyone's plans, and it does suck, but that's the way they've set it up.

Everything I've looked up still says 30 days but you know how good Disney is at updating things.

True dat! LOL

I know under my MDE account, the renewal option popped up around 60 days. I don't know if it was exactly 60, before or after, but it was around 60 days.

I hate this because I have AP vouchers that I dont want to activate until our wedding trip. so no advanced FP for our honeymoon!
