Is there a list somewhere or thread that talks about recommended FP for DLR? If not, can someone give me some ideas of those rides/attractions I should expect to try to get FP for? We are going to DLR for the first time at the end of July. I've read that not every minute has to be planned at DLR like at WDW, but I would like to get an idea of what rides I should expect to want to get FPs for.

Well ... here's the list of FP attractions in DL
  • Big Thunder Mountain
  • Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Indiana Jones Adventure
  • Matterhorn
  • Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin
  • Space Mountain
  • Splash Mountain
  • Star Tours (distributed next to Buzz Light Year’s distribution point
And here's the list for California Adventure
  • World of Color (distributed to the right of Ariel’s Undersea Adventure) – disconnected – grab this whenever you want!
  • California Screamin’
  • Goofy’s Sky School
  • Grizzly River Run
  • Radiator Springs Racers (distributed near It’s Tough to Be a Bug)
  • Soarin’ Around the World
  • Toy Story Midway Mania (New! As of 4.6.2017)
I'd say just take a look at what's available, the attractions that aren't on FP, and prioritize based on your own preferences.

For Disneyland I would get your FPs in this order:
Space Mountain
Indiana Jones
Splash Mountain
Matterhorn
Star Tours

Honestly the only rides you "need" FP for are Space and Indy and Matterhorn (maybe, haven't tried it since they opened). Splash, Haunted mansion, Astro Blasters, Big Thunder, Roger Rabbit, can all be ridden standby in the mornings with a minimal wait! If you want to ride Splash in the heat of the day though, FP is good for that since the line will shoot up from 10 mins to 60 mins when it gets hot.

In DCA FPs should go in this order:

Radiator Springs Racers
World of Color (this can be gotten at any time - it is "disconnected" from the others)
Soarin
Toy Story Midway Mania
Grizzly River Run
Goofy's Sky School

Again here, you don't really "need" FP for Goofy's Sky School, and Grizzly is the same as Splash where it can be ridden morning or evening fairly easily, but in the heat of the day you'll need FP. You definitely don't need FP for screamin, that line moves very very fast. But the FP is still convenient as the return time is never too far off.

The most important tip I can give you is be flexible, and be aware of when you can get a new Fastpass! Also, the Disneyland app will show the current FP return time, so I always check that to be sure the return time will fit into my plans before I head over to the kiosk! Also, get Park Hoppers! But be aware that you cannot hold FP in both parks at once (the systems are "connected", but you can get a FP in either park once your new window opens)

oooh for DCA I've forgotten about Guardians of the Galaxy. That will have FP as well once it opens! I think you can get away with getting Guardians first and then Radiator Springs second. If you have the Disneyland app, start opening it periodically and take a look at wait times and FP return times, just to get a feel for how fast they are being distributed on different days. Especially once Guardians opens it might have an affect on the other FPs throughout the park since people will be prioritizing that over say RSR or Toy Story. I'll certainly have my eye on the app once Guardians opens!
