FP priorities for more $? Coming soon to DLR and WDW?

well... AAA HAD a super fastpass, but due to the YOAMD promotion, they took it away for now...

Well, a patent application doesn't always mean they'll implement it, but that they don't want others to do it. :)

But you know, recently, I've read a TON of "my neighbor/friend said that DL/WDW had this pay-for-priority thing" posts. More in the last month than I remember since February. And I've been secretly wondering if they are actually doing a Beta testing of it on the sly. There just seemed to be too many people talking about it. I know people aren't always bright when it comes to Disney, but THAT many people mixing up Universal with Disney? And talking about it? :upsidedow

I once gathered menus for a Beta test on Amazon, when they wanted to make menus searchable. Got lots of overtime, got a per diem, and wasn't allowed to tell the restaurants why I was doing it, and our co-workers weren't supposed to know either. It was on amazon, after I quit a year later, for a few months, then drifted off into the ether of BAD ideas. Amazon grocery was a beta for ages before it went to a more mainstream visibility.

All I'm saying is...I wonder if there really has been something secret going on, with certain people being quietly chosen to test it out, and that's what has been reported recently...not just people mixing parks up or assuming that FP requires you to pay something...

But I would't want to be followed around b/c of my cellphone. :)

Consider the source.

Jim Hill.

Disney applied for a patent about a year ago and a similar byline was trotted out. Yet nothing happened. Not saying nothing will happen but I don't see the sky falling at the moment. This would not be embraced well at DLR at all and the DLR brass isn't all that keen on fast pass in General from what I've gathered. I can't see them embracing this. Keep in mind a patent is a very specific thing. Which means if they want to effectively be the only ones to have a system that works similarly to fast pass, they're going to have to apply for a lot of patents defensively and sit on them.

I wouldn't worry much about this unless they do it.

I do not remember all the details, but Disney has applied for many patents for FP over the years. There have a number of wild ideas and not so wild ideas. They just try to protect ideas. It does not mean they are planning to do it.

With that said, it would not surprise me to see future offerings along the line of the AAA Enhanced FP for Disney hotel resort guests.

That would be a good system , plus it would encourge more on site vacations. That said maybe not sometimes it is so hard to get an on site room................oh nevermind:confused3

There was an article about this in yesterday's Orlando Sentinel. As an Orlando local, I wouldn't care for this, on several levels.....who knows if it will happen.

I like the idea for WDW or DL...I know that some people do not like it...more $$$, but I am one of the few that would buy it and use it! We always go to Disney and stay on property, so that would be a great advantage! At WDW, they offer extra magic hours every morning and every night into ONE of the parks...WDW Resort guests only get to use that opportunity! I love that!! I hope DL would do something like that...one hour early on EMH and 3 HOURS LATE on EMH evenings!! So awesome!

Considering WDW has twice as many parks as DL, it works better for them. With DL, it would either tire out the CMs more or they'd have to hire more CMs. They just can't do an hour early and 3 hours late every night with 2 parks.
