FP policy if your kid falls short of height requirement

Leaving for the World tomorrow, my kid was exactly 40' at his pediatrician appointment this week, but I know pediatrician inches and Disney measurements aren't always in line with one another. I have FPs for Splash and BTMRR on different days. My question is what happens if we get the BTMRR and the CM says he's too short? Can we log into the app and change the experience? Do we have to wait the full hour to try to book a 4th FP as this is our 3rd of the day? Will they let us at least scan our MBs to burn the wasted FP?

Child swap is not an option.

As always, you are the man. Thanks! New question is on the app when you try to change experience it only searches for that hour. So hypothetically if I get to BTMRR at 12:30 for a 12:05-1:05 window, get turned down, will the app only show me rides within that window, meaning whatever I choose I have 35 minutes to get to.

1. It might. (But, I imagine that it will offer more than that... maybe with a cancellation, then a fresh pick?)
But, even if it does give you, say, 35 minutes, you can certainly get to any other attraction within 10-15 min., max, anyway.

Haha, thanks Robo. Ideally this turns out like August when I was freaking out about SDMT and he cleared the bar with room to spare.
 
If you can, switch that ride to the 1st of the day. That way if he's borderline, he'll stand the strongest chance of getting on it before he goes on other rides, or deals with gravity pulling his vertebrae closer together (causing us to shrink during the day). Always put the important rides at the beginning of the day when you're nervous about height!
 
I asked a Question before about whether you can change the experience when Te window was already open and received the same answer Robo gave you - as long as the window has not yet expired, you can still change experience.

HOWEVER When I was there, I found that once my window was open (early in the hour, definitely not expired) my FP was no longer displayed in MDE, so I couldn't change it. More than a handful of people on my thread reported the same problem. So I guess it's not the way it's intended to work, but maybe one of the many hidden joys of FP+. I recommend if you're anywhere near the ride before your FP time, stop by and check so you know whether you need to swap that FP?
 
You should absolutely go to a kiosk to change rides instead of doing it on the app!!! Unless they have changed it in the last month, the app is NOT actually searching for rides available that hour even though that is what it looks like it is doing. It is actually searching for rides available at any time that day. It automatically assigns you the first time for the ride available that day. So when you think you are switching from BTMR at 10:00 a.m. to Peter Pan at 10:00 a.m. and hit confirm, it might assign you a Peter Pan FP+ at 8:00 p.m. instead. We found that out the hard way!! If you go to a kiosk, the CMs there assisting can pull up the available rides and times where you can see them, so that you can find a ride available closest to the time slot you want.

The app can work for changing the time of the same ride (but you even have to be careful with that, because when we tried it that glitched and gave us a time several hours after it showed it was- the CM said probably because someone else was grabbing it at the same time and hit confirm first), but unless they have very recently changed it, it does NOT work for changing experiences, especially for the more popular items, unless you don't care what time it gives you.
 
I agree, it might help to check ahead of time at the ride. I feel for you, OP, a few years ago my son was right at 40", and he got checked every time, but luckily he always made it - even at the end of the day.

If it's 40" at the pediatrician's office w/o shoes he should be totally fine w/ shoes on.
 
40" at the peds without shoes should translate to 40" at WDW with his shoes on.

Ditto. Our son was just 40 inches without shoes last October, and he didn't even come close to not being tall enough at Disney. In fact, he didn't get checked as often as I thought he would (once at Splash, once on Star Tours, and that was it for the entire week). We did carry him through a couple of queues and the CMs did ask us to put him down a couple of times so they could see how tall he was, but after looking at him, they didn't ask for a measurement. I think knowing exactly what 40 inches looks like is a super power many CMs possess. :rotfl:
