Just a few thoughts and questions and ideas?

We go down in Oct with a large group, 20 to 25 of our closest family and friends..DH and I will have a set or 2 of MBs by then from our PAPs. Can we not link all of them and then have others link their ticket and use the ones we arn't using, or is that still up in the air? Only wondering cause I don't know how the MBs will be given out or sold by Oct, and maybe WDW doesn't know yet.. We have at least 4 types of tickets in the group, PAPs, Military tickets, 10 non expire/park hopper, CM and so on...I know it would make my DILs life a ton easier with a MB and hope this is one way I can get her one...free.

Last trip we tried to use the MDE, but only a few of us had success. That included several of the group that are IT people and couldn't get it to work. One of the worse problems was that our cell phones die in the parks. And recharging to change or make plans was a problem...No one wanted to stand in line to make FB+ in the parks. And trying to get online was not easy. I know it is in the testing stage, but wonder what might be done. I did carry a charger and found a few places to charge my phone in each park, but it wasn't easy. I know that a cell phone running out of power isn't WDWs problem, but I hope it is something they might think about with a lot of people trying to use a phone onsite to make and change plans.

We stay offsite as we have a ton of timeshare points and they no longer trade into DVC sadly. I did wonder also if we might be able to go to one of the resorts and make plans there, but didn't think to see if there were places in a resort to make FP+ plans.

Think this is gonna be an interesting few months for trips to WDW...

I don't think your plan will work because your MBs are tied to you. You can have more than one ticket on your account, but only one ticket active at a time, so it wouldn't work. My old MBs are still tied to us and our APs expired in October.

By Oct. it is very possible that off site people will be able to pay for a MB. AP holders are starting to test and it always seems like Disney likes to implement a change right before a busy time. Christmas, Presidents Day, Spring Break... no idea why, but it feels like that is what they have done. There have been rumors that it will be fully implemented by the summer, so who knows!

I bought an external charger (Anker 15000) so I could keep my phone charged throughout the day. I am typically an opener to closer and use my phone for pics too and by 1pm it was basically dead. It was great not having to look around for an outlet....just plugged it in and used as normal. It has 2 ports so could charge 2 things at once. It does weigh around 1lb so in a purse or pocket might be heavy, but I had one of those meshy type string backpacks and honestly didn't notice the weight.

Thanks for the info, both of you....

Just read some more threads on the MBs, and some people say that their old MBs are not linked to their tickets. No idea how they did that as I had to use my PAP account on WDW.com to order the MBs... Wasn't going to trying to cheat the system, was gonna try and figure out how to transfer our old one to DIL so she could use it with her ticket.

I have a solar charger I use at the parks, really not great, but it can get me a few extra calls if needed! I did just get a small charger that also has a wicked thin led light that can be plugged in...anyway, it is about 4" long, and 3/4" square, mini USB charger....Got it at a Quilt show of all places. A few ladies at the show said that they used theirs during a resent power outage we had and got several more hours of cell use. They weren't at the Happiest(Dang) Place on Earth....seems like WDW sucks the battery life out of all our cell phones, droid, iphones, what ever we are using in our group.

I don't think a 1 lb recharger would suck to bad...but I am saying that as I sit at home. I remember diaper bags with clothing for 3 kids, can't be much worse!

Thanks again for the info... I did just read a thread on how some were using MBs to get up to 12 FP+s a day! Wow...Just don't think I can do that...

On a different note....
I do have a badly put in knee, and an ankle on the other side that has a permanent break and has been rebuilt a few times..I don't have a big problem walking, slowish, but standing still kills me,both sides lock up and cramp and give out, ain't pretty. And I don't use a wheelchair or scooter. But I do get the Med Guest Ast. card and with the new changes with that it gives our group a chance to do some rides together...The only draw back is that everyone in the group has to show up at GS to be counted, which I feel bad about cause there were over 20 of us at the last trip. We only used it for all of us 1 time, and the rest of the time for 2-6 of us, but it was handy.
My point/question is that I am wondering how FP+ will work with the Guest Medical pass thingy in the future, if it will at all? I can see how it could work with it, but that could be a whole 'nuther can of worms...
