FP+ for Illuminations

Do we need a FP for Illuminations? We are going next week and I am looking over our FP+ choices. We have never been to Disney and will have 2 days at Epcot.

I did FP+ for illuminations and wouldn't do it again. We had to be early and that early I could have found a good spot on my own. We were 45 minutes before the time they let you in and were still 2 nd in line.

You want to get one for either soarin or test track unless you don't want to ride either. They have the biggest queues.

There are so many good spots around Epcot for Illuminations that I can't imagine using a precious FP+ for seating. You can get a good view of Illuminations without arriving super early and without using a FP. Good luck.

We did once just for fun and while it was a good spot it wasn't any better than the one we got earlier in the week (last minute and without any waiting.) I wouldn't do it again.

In 12 days of parks it was the biggest waste of FP+ and my time. An hour early, still four rows back without a view, and even those on rail are not on water they have greenery in front of them. I've done way better on my own with a nice seat by the rail with snacks.

Middle of September, what I would consider slow. I actually was at EPCOT on Memorial Day and had a better seat on my own.

Wasn't that before tiering started? Or am I wrong. I would think that now that most people would want to pick TT, or Soarin for their tier one it'd be less popular..

I have a fastpass for both Soarin and Illuminations thanks to the glitches in the app. I figured we'd show up around 8:15-8:30 to get in. Anyone with recent experiences to say how crowded it was?

Yes it was before tiering but I don't think there will be any difference in the number of people choosing it given the wide range of guests who enjoy the park. The area they put you in is so small that they really can't offer too many. I would say at best 25-30 people were on the rail that is how narrow the space is ..... unless they have expanded it to both shops or the space in between them, but I haven't picked up on that.

We had FP for Illuminations about a week ago (because of the glitch for us, too). We got there around 8:45, and there was plenty of room. We weren't right in the rail, but we could see just fine. The area is big enough that there's room to spread out - no one was cramped at all.
