I have not been to DW since FP+ began. Typically I buy an Annual Pass when I arrive at the parks the first trip in each year. I am getting ready for a trip, and I think I have discovered I have to buy my Annual Pass before the 60 day window in order to make FP+ reservations. Can some of you all who know more than me confirm this? I can only make FP+ with the ticket number, not the resort reservation? Thanks very much for your help.

Correct. You need a valid ticket attached to your My Disney Account. That, along with a linked onsite resort reservation allows you to book up to 7 days of FP+ starting 60 days from your check in. If you're going for more than 7 days, I'd look at buying a 10 day ticket and then switching to an AP, assuming AP costs more than the 10 day ticket. AP is capped at 7 days, I would assume a 10 day ticket lets you book 10days worth. So that after 3 days, you'd switch over to an AP at guest relations.

Yes, a 10 day ticket lets you book 10 days worth of fastpasses. I have 10 day hoppers for our up coming trip and have 10 days worth of FP+ already booked.

An annual pass and a resort reservation should allow you to book fp+ for the duration of your resort stay. It's only limited to 7 days when you don't have a resort reservation.

If you have an on site stay, you are not limited to 7 days- it is length of stay just as the pp said.

hmm... I know we ran into an issue when we had 2 4n trips within 30 days. It wouldn't let me make FP+ for the last night and check out day of our second trip.

There have been issues with multiple stays within 30 days. We have AP's and have an 8 day stay that is split 3night/5nights. We were able to book 9 days worth of FP's for this June.

AP's can book 30 days out for up to 7 days worth off site- anytime they want. Sometimes booking off site, then trying to book a stay on site will cause issues. Sometimes having more than one trip booked will throw a wrench into it and cause issues. But...if you have no fp+'s scheduled and you have an on site stay- you will be able to book for the length of your stay. Its only when you start splitting stays, have multiple reservations within 30 days or you have booked fp+'s with no on site stay and then try and book an on site stay within 30 days that you might see some issues.

A clean slate with an on site stay books length of stay is what I'm trying to say.:) If it doesn't, one should call them because it should. We had it not work on my AP, worked for everyone else and had to call them to get it straightened out.
