Four Points Universal -- Proximity to Universal and Universal Hotels

Will be staying here for a few nights during the Universal leg of my upcoming Orlando trip. For the first couple of days, it will just be my wife and I, no car. For the last two days, we'll have our two year old daughter with us, along with my parents, who will have a car if we need it. I gather that there is a shuttle from the hotel, but it runs fairly infrequently.

Soooo, without further ado:

1. Assuming we miss the shuttle, is it better to walk or cab it?
2. If you had a car, would it be cheaper to take it and pay to park, or would you just take a cab?
3. If you pay to park, do you have in/out privileges (on the last day, we're definitely going to need to come back to the room so our little one can nap)
4. We have reservations at both of Emeril's restaurants on the nights before our daughter arrives, and I assume we're going to need to come back to get cleaned up before doing that -- is that walkable from the hotel at night?

I stayed there last year. It is walkable, less than a mile to get to the area where the garages are, but it's still a long walk to actually reach the parks from there. You'd probably rather just take a cab. Can't imagine it would be more than five bucks each way including tip.

I don't think Four Points had a shuttle when we were there in 2009, but that may have changed. The public LYNX bus stop is right outside of the hotel. You can take the 37 bus there for $2 apiece. I wouldn't recommend taking the bus back because the route doesn't go back in front of the hotel and it's a bit confusing.

After walking all day at the parks, I'd just take a cab back to the hotel. There are usually several near the garage where the bus drops you off.
