Four Go Wild in Florida (March 2001) 16 (Day15) Time to go home, time to go home. Spotty is waving goodbye
No plan, no changes just sadness.
Woke at 6.05 and feel numb, my friend. Nothing happens today really Im just goin through the motions of goin home. Thanks for comin by to see me for these last two weeks, Ive really enjoyed your company. To my special band of Strangers, thank you. Youve been so supportive and encouraging.
Valerie wakes at 6.30 and we start to get everything ready for home. The kids sleep on, no need to rush them up today. As we pack up all the wreckage thats our two week aftermath we reflect on whats been a really great holiday despite yesterday. With hindsight, we should have stayed home yesterday and got all this done leaving us free to go and do Epcot for a couple of hours today before leaving for the airport. But John ,Paula and the girls wanted to pop over to say goodbyes and our two were looking forward to the opportunity to spending some time in the pool goes to show. You plan every day to the last degree to make sure you get to see and do everything at least once and its time in the pool (which is paid for!) that they miss most.
Still shell shocked at me last day, and losin ToN and Reflections most of all, I had to admit it hadnt been such a bad holiday and the plan worked most of the time. Im sure we got much more done than if we hadnt got the routine right.
Pleasure Island and two shows each at Seaworld and Epcot were the only casualties.
Looking back, though we regretted not making time for Kennedy and cant believe we only went to Seaworld the once and had a 7 day pass as well as a flex ticket to be on the safe side! We will probably say, when we review this drivel ourselves, that we spent too much time at MK to the detriment of other things but Early Entry is such a privilege to work your day round it would be wasteful not to use it.
I o A was a surprising pleasure for me but Vs not bothered about goin back. But thats coz we didnt really do the things she would have liked.
Busch was still Busch and Ill fight its corner on any thread. Now Im a feet dangler it came even more into its own. Next year we plan to stay over at the beach or in Tampa and do two consecutive days it IS that good.
The surprises of the trip were the things I was least interested in yes I know Valerie, Im owning up now. You see I do the planning, coz its me way, but V decides on the must dos and I just make sure they fit into a viable plan making best use of location planning and time etc.. The events I was most against were PSs cost and time taken in a sit-down restaurant and, as you know, Cirque.
Well the PSs at Hollywood and Vine and OHannas couldnt have been better and the kids reactions to them made them all the more must dos every time from now on.
And Cirque? What can I add? This show had such an effect on me. Its even found its way to me top show list and you might remember me feelins for Reflections.
Of the rides, I still enjoyed them all from Small World to Dr Doom and the Cat in The Hat in between. Obviously because they were all first timers, it was the coasters that made the lasting impression. They are all good I dont think theres one I wont go on again.( If there was it would be Space Mountain coz its dated now and so rough the bar hurts a fatlads belly.) Each one made such a different impact. RnRC for just goin round and round and round coz I had so much time with early entry to MGM. Kraken for being me first real coaster. That long haul up the steep rise and first drop Ill never forget that fear. Hulk for the twist at the top and Duellin Dragons for the near miss. But the gold medal just has to go to Montu for the speed, height and smoothness that it transforms you into a bird for two marvellous minutes. On behalf of Gaz, Id have to give Gwazi a special commendation for bein the most fun I had with me lad all holiday.
And then there were the disasters. Test Track, Akbars Tours and I did suggest Alien just for the preshow but it was too busy.
Oh, forgot to tell you. On Wednesday ,when we were sittin round the pool with John and Paula and the kids were swimming. V locked all four room keys in the room when she let the door shut behind her without checking one of us had the card. She asked me to go and tell reception with my record! Yer jokin! I told her. So thats a new card key to add to the new safe door added to the bill.
Talkin of which the room charges were on the door this morning and Julie hasnt bankrupt the extension on me overdraft so the bailiffs can go sit back down thank you.
And no charge for the safe door thank you Walt.
Highlights overall?
Meetin Janice and Chris. On the board I talk a good talk but am really so shy its untrue (ok it is untrue, but I am shy(ish)) and was seriously worried about meetin these nice people from the Board. As weve since found out at the Shields Beach Party, were all on board coz were like minded people (even the ones I fall out with) and like minded people just get on.
Cirque, Reflections and Fantasmic in order but only decimal places apart.
Best day got to be Busch Monday. From downhearted to uplifted and a late night party all to meself. I was just so happy to be here.
Worst no prizes awarded for that one. I dont know yet but itll take me two weeks to get that day out of me head and fill it with what youve since found to be drivel.
Got to go now Dear Stranger. Im gonna miss you. Thanks for listening and letting me relive me holiday.
