Four Go Wild in Florida 14 (Day 13) –MK ,BB & FitS

PLAN –Show John around & Boggy Creek Airboats
CHANGES TO PLAN Dropped Boggy Creek for Blizzard Beach
MISSED FROM PLAN TO DATE - Pleasure Island , Blizzard Beach, ToN, Seaworld (Clyde & Seamore, Pets on Stage), Epcot (Off Kilter and British Invasion).

Mornin, Stranger.

After a couple of long days, we decided to get some sleep in case we spoilt our last two days rushing around when too tired. So I slept ‘till 7 then rang John (V’s brother) to see if he was ready for the guided tour. I left V and the kids sleepin and went to pick John and Laura (DD1) up at the Sports’ reception.
He’d managed to sort the time thing out yesterday and was now rarin to go , bein their first morning. (UK time had gone back an hour so when he put his watch back 5 hours it should have been 6) We did a quick tour of Crossroads and Kiss Old Town to give him his bearins and I dropped them back at Sports around 8ish.
V was up (Mickey rang 8am – it was a lie in not a day off) and the kids were awake. Julie was grumpy coz she was havin to walk to the telly to turn it over coz the remote wasn’t working. I rang housekeeping and asked them to send an emergency repairman over.

We’d decided to ‘drop’ Boggy Creek Airboats as there was still so much to see and do around MK and Epcot. On the bus just after 8.30, we were at Adventureland for Rope Drop 9 sharp.
Quickly through Adventureland, we got our 4 FPs for Splash and were on Thunder in minutes. Julie really enjoys Thunder now and I wonder if it’s me Princess that’ll be me ride buddy next year?
Straight back to Splash and there wasn’t a line so me and the kids went on while V watched from the bridge. (We took her to the bridge to save time looking for her later.) The kids used the FPs to get two more goes in and I went back to V to count the boats and see if we could catch some shots of the kids as they hurtled into the briar patch. Splashed out, we got one of them rafts over to Tom Sawyer Island and explored the fort and paths.
Time was pushin on now, and we’d promised to meet John and Paula at Blizzard Beach at 3, so we made our way out of Frontierland. Through Adventureland, we’d decided to give the Jungle Cruise a miss but would ‘do’ the Tree House if there wasn’t much of a line – there was, so we didn’t. So The Swiss Family Tree House remains the one thing in WDW we still haven’t done. Passing Aloah Isle Ice Cream place, I noticed the Dole Whips sign. Now this had been on V’s ‘got to have’ list since we first found the boards, but what was a Dole Whip? V was devastated to find it’s ice cream in pineapple juice – she doesn’t like pineapple juice! But I do – and it was lovely. V had a float and the kids got ice creams. We ate them as we wandered from Adventureland and lingered around the bridge, taking in the beauty of the castle and the gardens around the hub.
Me video camera saw action around Crystal Palace to capture the sunny atmosphere and we decided it was too late to go to Epcot so headed ‘home’ for an hour or so before setting off for BB.

In the room by 1.30, V and the kids had forty winks while I popped down to Crossroads to get some last minute things at Goodings and The Disney shop.

We met John, Paula, Laura and Hannah where we said we would at BB around 3pm. Gaz and Julie took their cousins to explore and us grown ups sat and caught up with each other’s news. When the kids came back, John took Gaz to do some slides, Julie and Laura went off to do ‘girly’ things and I went on me tour of the park with me video camera.
John had taken Gaz on Summit Plummet! Me and the boy had done Slush Gusher the time before, but ‘didn’t have time’ for SP. I was impressed. Gaz had been on about wishin he’d done SP since we went home in 99. I was pleased he’d gone on with John coz I had no fancy for it.
John said “Hang on, there’s a story to this.”
All the time they’d been movin up the line, John had been windin Gaz up about how high it was, how fast you must go and how many people fell off – that sort of thing. He said Gaz seemed more and more nervous (for some reason) as they got nearer and was looking really unsure as they got to the top. John had taken him to the edge, but he wanted his Uncle to go first. John survived and stood at the bottom waitin for his brave Nephew to plunge down the screamin slope.
And waited.
The bloke that arrived next wasn’t Gaz.
“That kid you were with?” The guy said.
“The second you left the top, he was off!”
So that’s another ride he’s got off. Maybe next time.

We sat under the shade and drank beer (well me and John did) while the kids played in the pools and we left as BB closed.

Back to All Stars, John & family came over to our pool so the kids could play together, V and Paula could natter, and me and him could drink some beer. Several beers later, I noticed it was 8 o clock and we had to be in MK for FitS at 8.30! G&J wanted to stay in the pool, so we left them some money in the room to get something to eat when they were ready and enough for the Resort Arcade as a treat. John and Paula took their girls ‘home’ for tea and to get changed and me and V caught a bus for MK.

So, Stranger. We’re bouncing along on this bus at 8.20, I’m drunk in charge of a camcorder, and the plan is to get a near perfect video of Fantasy in the Sky, which starts in 10 minutes. What do you think of our chances?
No, I didn’t think much of them either.

Off the bus and through the gates just before 8.30. Into the tunnel and there’s no music on Main Street, it’s that near to showtime. Loads of people. All standin, heads up, looking towards the castle. I pull V along behind me. If I lose her now she’ll have to find her own way home, only seconds left. Through the garden ,pass Walt and Mickey, and onto the road on Main Street. Feet in the tracks, look up…..Lights….. Camera……….Action !

”The second star to the right………”

”A long time ago, in the place called Neverland, there lived a sparkling spirit named Tinkerbell. Legend has it that to this day she still flies over this magical land of fantasy and the story’s told , to children of all ages, that if you wish hard enough ….and believe strong enough ….Tinkerbell will soar high above the Magic kingdom and light a Fantasy in the sky…”

And she did !

More tears and another magical show was ‘in the can’. Hard to believe this is the first time I’ve seen this properly this trip and a bloomin miracle when you consider the way we came to be here tonight. How we got here on time, never mind getting me favourite spot, must be Walt’s way of sayin ‘Thanks Dave.’

We were soon on the bus headin ‘home’. The kids had had pizza and managed to spend all the change in the arcade. J wasn’t happy coz the remote hadn’t been fixed. Me and V had our burger and fries and planned the final day. (I’m wellin up just thinking about it.)
We were all asleep by 10.30.
