Four driving and one flying, can just the one person do Magical Express?

My DFIL is thinking of joining us this fall at Disney World. DH, DD, DS and I will be driving but he would be flying from another state. We are checking in on Thursday, October 2 but he is looking to fly down on Monday, October 6. I would have to add him to our reservation for the whole trip (and change resorts and spend a lot more overall) and buy him the same 8 day park pass we are getting. I am wondering if it would be possible for him to take Magical Express to the resort...it would be a date a few days after our arrival date, but he would be on the reservation. Anyone have any ideas if this would work? Thanks in advance for any advice! :goodvibes

Yes, he can use DME independently of the rest of the party.

In addition if you add him after you check in you can add him only for the nights he is actually staying with no dining or ticket requirements. Just ask the CM to add him after your completely finished checking in - you could even do it the next day. He will have to buy his own ticket and pay for his dining separately. There is an additional cost per adult over 2 per room except for the DVC villas or the value suites.

Then you can ask the CM to arrange his DME reservation as well using his actual flight information. He won't have a customized magic band (it will be grey) and won't have access to FP+ but you can "possibly" copy yours to him after you add him.

For DME he will have to stop at the desk as he won't have vouchers in advance but that should not take long.
